just to say, the weight loss probably won't stay. when you don't eat for a while, your body thinks "oh crap, I'm going into hard times, better store up!" and so it both decreases your metabolic rate, and stores up more food when you do start eating again, leading to weight gain

Water fasting has several health benefits if done correctly

It's a terrible idea if you plan to just go exactly right back to the same eating habits as before, but if you intend to make a change and actually do follow up and reduce your diet and continue to eat a reduced diet (while still most crucially and importantly ensuring you do have enough of all nutrients, so the key is to just have variety each day and usually it works out), then it can actually be a powerful tool in losing weight and maintaining it, especially if you can commit to drinking only water long-term. It's only bad if you end up going right back to your old ways.
