This looks fun but man I’m amazed by how well the 4Runner goes down on those steep hills! Just bought a 4x4 3rd Gen 4Runner this year and can’t wait to modify it. I’ll start with some simple off-roading and maybe once I get better at it I’ll try and tackle this path someday, great video👏🏽🌲

These suckers are super capable. No need for fancy bumpers and stuff. They definitely serve their purpose, but I was doing the same trails with a small lift and tires

If I remember correctly the 4Runner has the same front to back wheelbase as a Tacoma extended cab. They just look longer.

Hey bro I wouldn’t recommend driving alone, my cousin an experienced driver , had the ground loosened under him and rolled over a couple times and fell unconscious , luckily minutes later another vehicle passed by and got help , he only had a concussion and broken wrist but it could of ended a lot worse if it wasn’t for that family that saw him down there

Yeah, there's certainly some risk involved, just like many things in life. I travelled alone all summer in very remote areas that would have been much more dangerous than this trail... Maybe not the best idea, but certainly worth the reward

I've wanted to do Black Bear for months. I'm an avid outdoor filmmaker, and I feel like it would be a sick place to shoot. I gotta fix some stuff on my 3rd gen first before I try and tackle it.

Man I scooped my 2000 4Runner up all stock for $2500 cash and it was the best ride I’ve ever had I’ve since then put a 5 inch lift kit and 33 inch Mickey Thompson tires on it and i absolutely love it and plan on keeping it forever 280k miles and no lights on the dash truly the best truck ever made !!!

Great video! Was in CO the last week of Aug '21, so just a week after you shot this. I have a 2000 4Runner and did Imogene and Engineer before the torential rains set in. The 4Runner climed over everything in it's path without any issues...225K miles on the odo. Had to cut the trip short, but plan on coming back for more. You've got pretty big cohones to do Black Bear alone! I don't have enough off road experience to tackle that one, but it is thrilling to watch the videos. You fly that drone like a Jedi Knight!

@@PartimeOverland That sounds like a great time. Seems like July August September is the best time for that area due to the snow pack needing to melt so the trails can open....also the most crowded, though. I don't know if you young guys would want an old fart like me hanging around.

Great video, could I recommend that you render and upload your videos in 4k? Even if its still really 1080p, youtube gives it a much higher bitrate, which makes the shots with a lot of movement far less grainy. example 2:40

My regret is not buying a 4Runner when they we’re priced ok and cheaper, now even the older generations are expensive. I just decided to wait for the redesign 4Runner to buy my first truck and this will last me a lifetime if it’s built right and being taken care of.

@@PartimeOverland I was messing with you since you're driving a Toyota which obviously isnt an American car. I drive nothing but Toyotas myself. I've had two Tacomas an FJ that made Mr January in an offroad Calendar and I drive a Tundra now that I use for towing my Polaris. I got tired of paying out the ass for fixing my daily driver now I just drag the Polaris onto the trailer and fix it when I get around to it.

@@TrulyUnfortunate Haha😄 Yeah you got me on that one. Certainly not American. In fact I’m pretty sure the 4Runners are one of the last Toyotas to still be made in Japan - at least I know the 3rd gens were. They’re the best

@@PartimeOverland The Wife had the old school 4Runner. It went 275k miles with very few issues. She traded it in a 2020 Tacoma 4x4. My 07 FJ was built in Japan and it was rock solid. My Tundra was built just down the road from me here in Texas. One of my favorite trucks was a 98 Tacoma with the TRD blower. I went through a shitload of head gaskets over the years but that extra power was worth it.
