Good analogies with fasting and with meditation, I've been doing both for some time now and I have also seen similarity with the reboot in the way this all works.

I have terrible real insomnia for 5 years. I'm on my recovery journey now (because I've found the sleep coach school for anyone who might be struggling) but the thing is, that to recover from insomnia you actually need to not do anything about it and it will start to fade away...

Interesting! I had a similar experience with sleep problems. I learned to not worry about it so much and that helped me fall asleep so much more easily!

One of the best advice sometimes to heal all you need is to do nothing even trying to find different solutions can become an addiction as soon much time is wasted looking at content or formula it loses the purpose. Work on yourself gym start slowly and improve your life slowly that sooner or later you won’t need that vice you keep running to like porn. Personally I don’t like therapy as it’s just talking about negativity personally I started replacing cheap dopamine with good dopamine small steps compounds into something great.

Yes, you're absolutely right. Ironically, self improvement content can become a distraction from actual self improvement as well. Love to see that you're taking steps to build healthy habits for yourself!

Maybe we could connect " do nothing" with the biblical approach :"2 Timothy 2:22 " Flee also youthful lusts " Don't fight, just flee...

If I accidentally come across adult content while scrolling on social media or opening my laptop, and I view it before pressing "not interested" or closing the tab, does it count as a relapse?

i had this realization last night when i got back home from bjj. i noticed that there is no right "method" to stop watching porn and masturbating. you just dont do it. you dont have to follow a specific way/method/trick/technique to get rid of this addiction, you dont have to DO anything, you just have to "DONT" watch porn. then just live and enjoy the urges when they arise, knowing that you dont have to act upon them. let the feelings play out and they will dissolve by themselves.

"knowing that you don't have to act upon them" is exactly it. seems so simple, but it really changes everything

Hey shane, as you told I can't belive myself how much I have gone so far. It has been more than a year that I quit three bad habits which were compunding each other. Nowadays I can't stand other People around me who are still in addiction phase. I would like to help them but you know it is not easy to change People with Just giving advice with a few Word. Anyway, as we are the ones that Saw the bad side of addiction and hardness of healing. I like to bring the question as, isn't there is a way to prevent People falling in this trap who are close to us. For example I can see my ten years old daughter like how she is becoming addicted to the phone every day more and more. And as parents even you have the wisdom, you can't stop some one elses behavior. They can't understand before Experiencing it. I hope I've made myself clear. I wish I could hear your opinion form this angle. Thanks for all this healing happened. I still engage with the content

Congratulations for the progress you've made! That's really awesome. Regarding your question, it's my belief that people learn influenced 99% by actions and role modeling and 1% by words. One reason we all tend to get addicted to phones and sugar and all kinds of other stuff is because it's "normal", we see everyone else do it. So even if we encounter many words about how bad sugar is, we keep seeing it everywhere, we keep seeing everyone consume it, so we end up doing it too. I think the best chance you have to help your daughter develop healthier habits is to live and demonstrate a healthier alternative. She will still see a lot of strangers and peers being addicted to their phone, but is she has a clear, strong example of something that looks and feels better at home and she can clearly see how it leads to better outcomes, that will go a long way. Also, I would expect that there will be years in which she seems to completely ignore anything you model and even actively go against it, but it still makes a difference. For example, my parents were good at modeling healthy eating for me. There was a phase where I was rebelling against that and constantly wanted candy and stuff. But later, I fell back to my "default" of healthy, home cooked food.
