You got that right bud. You and I both live life. Frozen sap is a nice sweet treat! Some people will add maple sap to tea and coffee.

Shane...to prevent cold drafts and make the sap freeze even more, can you wrap the buckets and close the buckets all the way instead of there being a gap between the top of the bucket and lid?

Good tips! What would I wrap them with? I saw on line other buckets that can be purchased which have lids covering the whole bucket. I may just upgrade to getting the larger lids. That should help reduce rain/snow from collecting in the bucket.. next year :)

@@paralifetv-youreverydaywhe8314 if it were me...I'd get those industrial velcro hook and loop Amazon sells and go to a thrift store and get an old ratty, wool blanket...cut it up and drape the pieces over the lid...you know to where it's hanging down...and maybe tie a rope around the bucket to hold the blanket tight. Upgrading the lids to larger ones will keep drafts out...but not warm them up.
