On point brother, it's ridiculous how some folks want to beat down someone else for what they like, or what they got. It's stupid. It's a pastime, a hobby....not an investment. Don't put a collector down because you don't agree on what they collect...or get pissed because they got something you didn't. Help each other, encourage each other...that's what a "community" is.

I agree with you. Although depending on what you have in your collection, it can turn into an investment. I'll give you two examples. K One of my hommies is a collector like myself. Two weeks ago he sold two Mafex Ben Reilly figures for $150 a piece. Now each figure cost him about $60 bucks. I say made a nice profit. Next example, here in Atlanta Georgia, when using self checkout, some of the Targets and Walmarts will offer an Allstate two year toy protection plan for $3 to $4 dollars. Happened to me three times. Once when I purchased the NECA Mirage Renet, then the NECA Archie comics Slash and today with Power Ring from the DC McFarland Multiverse. And the DC Crime syndicate Power Ring figure was on clearance for $7.49 marked down from $22.99. And self checkout still offered me a $3 dollar two year toy protection plan from Allstate. Sounds like an investment to me 💰

Growing up we were told to do what made us happy. Yet everytime I ever do something that makes ME happy, I have someone telling me "If I had your time, money, luck, etc, I'd do ABC." Great, I'm doing what makes ME happy. Sorry I don't care about what you care about. My dad gave me the best/worst advice ever- "If they don't pay your bills, they don't matter."

Good points being made there, I try not to make my collecting a competition either. I see people flexing on each other all the time when showing off their finds, a deal they got, how much they paid for their holy grail figure; or just simply their posing. It just comes with the territory. It sucks, but there’s some good people within the community.

I never could understand why people are so into how others collect and what they collect. The thing that makes this community and hobby interesting is how each person has different methods to their madness so to speak. We may not always agree with everyone's method but that's okay. That's what makes everyone's collection individualized.

Totally agree. I admit to being guilty of this :/ I specialise in collecting female characters from Transformers, I've paid stupid money for some stuff. And I've started to realise lately that I was doing it partly for 'clout' (whatever that means). So now I've started sharing my collection with a different mindset, to be more positive and not self serving with my attitude.

I literally HATE Funko pops, lol. I don't even know why... I got one free in a contest one time. Took me over a year to sell it on ebay, listed at 9.99 with free shipping. With that being said, I couldn't care less if someone wants to collect them nor will I put somebody down for liking something that I personally don't like. I'm sure I've got stuff in my collection that is not everyone's cup of tea and that's fine. That's how it should be. On another note, I went to TJ Max/Homegoods to see what I could find... Grabbed one of those Phantom Rangers for $12.99! I was a few days away from buying one online even though they were all $18 and above. Thanks for the tip Unc

Interesting points made. As you're looking for additional flight stand, lighting and/or screw options, you should consider getting a spool of fishing line. It's thin, strong and nearly invisible such you can easily tie to some of those zigzag borders of your wire shelving and control the slack. A few diagonal ties, and you might be pleasantly surprised with the unforeseen poses in how figures happen to stay in those elevated positions.

There are levels to everything in life. And you compete with others unknowingly by just existing lol. Some see their collection as an accomplishment of time,effort, and hard earned money spent. They want to flaunt it and show if off. Their collection is also an investment. This brings envy among those who don't have the time,dont spend the effort, and don't have the extra funds to amass a good collection. This group of collectors also get low key haters. They also hate among themselves because they compete among themselves when it comes to owning rare and expensive figures. These collectors annoy the ones I bring up next. Then you got those who see their collection as just wanting to collect stuff they like or for nostalgia purposes. You got two types of these type of collectors. The OCD collectors who must collect everything. And then you have the filthy casual collector. Who are very selective and tend to collect certain figures from certain toylines. They never have a full set of anything unless its something they really like. Its not really a competition its more like different collecting sensibilities not agreeing with the other. Conflict arises when envious casual collectors try to flex their collections in figure communities with a lot of very passionate hardcore collectors. Hardcore collectors then flex in return. And then the casual collector get butt hurt from the drama they started by trying to show off in a hardcore collectors group. This applies to the KZbin toy collecting community as well. Except its a battle between true collectors, toy collectors who shill for Clout and sponsorships , and those who are just resellers that produce toy collecting content in order to get people to buy toys from them.

the problem i have com across is these vintage toy reviewers review somthing , then the followers or "minions" in some have to go on ebay and get the same thing just becasue they see it on youtube ....and this causes the prices to go up and double that in the GI JOE community esp becasue most have to ARMY build which i don't get and never will ...

Oh yeah... That's a big part of collecting and Always has been. I got rarer shit the next guy. Especially when you look at people who collect Baseball cards and stuff like that... Or Stamps. To have stuff that you're "not supposed to have" like an original Boba Fett with the rocket launcher or a genuine Wonder Bread He-man. Or some variation that should have never left the factory or a Prototype of a figure that never got made. If all you got is the shit everybody else got that any body can get off the shelf then so what... But nowadays they over produce stuff that's supposed to "collector items" but they make so many of them that they're not special or rare.
