i tried out my sophomore year for my highschool team, i play travel & rec so i thought i was good enough to make it!! i tried my hardest and i didn't make the team /: i felt so discouraged i felt like i wasn't good at softball and i "quit" for a while. haven't tried out since bc highschool tryouts just burst my confidence /:

I know how it feels. I hurt like hell. This year I wanted to be on all stars. I freaking worked my butt off all season. I took a year off because I had to focus on my health and getting better. So I tried out and I did good. Personally I felt like I did better than some of the other people that made it on the team. So there were 2 teams and the one team was going to be the all stars because majority of them were seniors. I play in the senior division too. My mom got an email saying I made the team but there was no coach but I knew that there was another team. Instantly I knew that I didn't make the team for all stars. I felt really bad. I felt like I wasn't good enough and honestly I didn't want to play at that point but I stuck with it and well we played the other team and we played them like 5 times and we beat them 3 times. That team was all seniors but my team was a mix of seniors and juniors. I thought I was doing good. But the head coach started putting me in the outfield. I was playing first base all season until the last few games. I felt like I wasn't good enough anymore. He put his daughter at 1st and it pissed me off. His daughter didn't even try hard at all. Im upset that he did that. I never complained all season and his daughter complained all season long. At this point I didn't care anymore. 5 people from my team made it on all stars. I honestly though I would be one of them but I wasn't. But of course the coaches daughter was picked. At that point was pushed to the edge. I'm still angry about it. Tbh I only think she made all stars is because her dad was the coach and he was close with the other coach who is coaching all stars. Anyway I'm trying to get over it still.

oh wow.. I hate when coaches play daddy ball. but girl keep your head up! there are teams that would love to have you on their roster. I know it really sucks and it hurts, but just keep working hard. set goals and work on your game!!

Spent hours a day for months working to get on my high school volleyball team. I got cut after the second round of tryouts, while others who barely put in much work got on because of their tall height. I was upset indeed. On top of that, a lot of my friends got on and I felt so left out in the process. There was a period of time after I cut which I shut myself away from the sport because it just hurt so damn much. But I wasn’t gonna let one cut ruin such a cool sport. I only let that anger make me practice harder. You fall down, you pick yourself up. Keep trying and never give up folks. Everything you need is inside you.

I didn't make the volleyball team this Sophomore year, but that's actually understandable since I'm quite new to volleyball. I want to practice throughout the year to get better and the coach is giving me locations for lessons and come back next year stronger. I made it Freshmen and I'm at least happy to made the team + experience games. I'm just glad my coach recognized my hard work during tryouts. It's just there were so many girls who were trying out and half of my friends were cut. :)

I’m going into freshman year. I tried out for my hs team. Worked my ass off. Made most of the goals during scrimmage out of the jv girl. Coach decides to cut me. My friend who didn’t make any goals made the team. Girls who were worse than me made the team. Made me feel like I wasn’t good enough. Balled my freaking eyes out. Still trying to get over it and I’m gonna look into another team but still need time to get over it. This video helped me so much thank you for the inspiration!

Sienna I feel you. I just got cut earlier today. I went to all pre season workouts, even the one on my birthday. I busted my butt at every tryout day and did all I could. However I still got cut and other girls who were lazy didn’t. I kept trying to figure it out, how could I not make the team. I am still wondering now. Stay strong though.

My story is so similar. I played for nationals. A full time travel team. Ill admit I was a hard, aggressive player. I would always play in practice. Showed up at all the practices. At tournaments I would always sit on bench. I was sick of it. I quit. I tried out for a new team, fusion, a part time team. I worked really hard. My dad stayed to watch. He said, "that's the best I've ever seen you play" trust me the girls there were not as experienced. The day after my parents got an email. I didn't make the team :( I was upset. I didn't want to show it in front of my parents. I stormed up the stairs and straight up balled my eyes out. Not only was I upset but so were my parents. Not at me but the coaches. Honestly I felt like I was nothing I was broken. After talking with my friends and parents they made me feel so much better. Watching this video made me feel like I wasn't the only one. Thank you

I was on a travel team for 2 yrs then got cut. It sucked bc I was close to the team. I then tried out a different team with my friends on that team. I was really close with them and the coach and it hurt after 2 yrs of being on the team getting cut. I think I have a pattern. But it was difficult to comprehend that they cut me when I KNEW I did better that half the girls at tryouts. Now I'm going to take a break from softball to focus on dance. I think having a break will help boost my confidence. During the first team I was on was my first year on travel. I wasnt bad but I was pretty bad. I was at the bottom of the lineup and sat and played outfield most of the time. I then finally got cut and I learned from my mistakes. I went to the other team, doing way better that season. I was fourth in lineup and I NEVER sat. Then my second season on that team comes around and it goes downhill. I had about 2 bad games and I go from playing 3rd to outfield and batting fourth to last. I was upset and I let that keep me down for the WHOLE season keeping me there. I was never hyped and thought where they put me somehow told me how good i was. I went to tryouts having a bad feeling I was getting cut. And I did. I wasnt surprised. I didnt do the best at tryouts but I did do good. I felt confident for the first time. Then I didnt. When they told me i had been cut i cried for like 2 days saying i didnt want to play anymore. It hurt like hell. I kept wanting to go back to tryouts and try agian thinking it was all a dream. I even wondered if the coaches planned taking me off. I think getting cut twice from teams you were really close with will never feel good. But just know that everything does happen for a reason. And I am stronger than I was then.

The exact same thing happened to me. I’m so glad you made this video because I’ve felt so discouraged lately. The worst part was it was my junior year season and I was going to make the big jump from JV to varsity. I got cut from the whole program. I worked hard and even played volleyball to keep me in shape and conditioning. Everything I did was all for softball. My goal was and still is to play in college. I was so upset watching her varsity team play. Just like you said she choose girls who have never played before or weren’t as experienced. The thing that made me most upset is she put a senior who’s never played before on varsity playing my position. But just like you said I realized that this was meant to happen for a reason. I’m now willing to work 10x harder to prove her wrong. Nobody really knew how I felt because they weren’t with me working out and practicing late lights and early mornings but i’m glad there’s other girls playing the same sport who do.

I absolutely love your attitude about it. I coach softball and have to cut people that bust their butt for me all season but dont make the allstar team. Younger girls who are watching this video have just learned that, hard work and development dont always stand up to talent but it pays off in the end. Great job giving that back to the sport.

But it turns out the coach had said something about me before I tried out. Even though I didn’t do anything wrong. I know she said something about me because I made every requirement on the tryout packet.

I play soccer, so I tried out for my middle school team. In my middle school we have 7th and 8th grade. (I'm in 7th grade) During tryouts I worked so hard and tried my best, I have absolutely no regrets. So when I went to go see the roster I was so excited(which was surprising since I don't have a lot of self confidence) and when I got there I searched for my name, when I didn't see it I decided I must of skipped over it, but after looking a second time I realized I wasn't on there. I was devastated. I had recently saw some girls crying that didn't make the team, there was even one of the best players crying about not making the team. I was so confused because there had been girls who made it on the team that didn't care about the game, or didn't even try. Regardless I was proud of myself. I even nearly beat the two best girls on the team, they were in 8th grade and I heard that it was a big accomplishment, even the other 8th graders said that would love to score on them. At first I was fine and thought that the other girls that were crying were being dramatic. During class it hit me, and it hurt. I started crying and feeling as if I was a complete failure and wasn't good for anything, I hated myself. I'm currently bawling my eyes out, but this video is exactly what I needed. Thank you, I will continue to work hard and plan on trying out next year. I'm still happy for the 9 people that did make the team though. Ily all😭💕

Next year I have to try out, I’m nervous I’d say I’m pretty good I can play about every position and can hit pretty well as well as running but I didn’t play last year because I had surgery on my feet (Bunions@11) and then one year most of my team got offered to be in All Stars and I didn’t know what it was and I declined (I would kill to be there now). So now I’ve been in the year practicing Over And Over Again And I feel like we’ll have a pretty decent team this year and I actually have practice today!!

There were three tryouts and the day right before the first tryout i got extremely sick, so the day of tryouts i didn't go. But i went the second and third day and still didn't make the team. I feel you that had happened to me last year I was alwaysput in the outfield, the coches played Daddy ball the whole season. Theyy would always pull me out of the game if I missed any ball hit to me even if it was a pop fly that I couldn't get to. I felt like I was not going to play softball again.. OMG! The same thing happened to me when I played in 10u for my towns organization. He had me catch EVERY practice but never gave me time to play and when I did play I actually caught the ball and made plays but he ended up taking me out after that and I only played but maybe 2 innings at a time. But by 12u I had a new coach and FINALLY got to catch, I don't like to humble myself but I was probably the best catcher out of my whole league.

We just had soccer tryouts and im a senior. I made the team the previous year and was a starter too and then this year i didnt make it. What makes less sense is that the underclassmen who havent played before made the team and the guys who were clearly not as good also made it. All my “previous” teammates were like “wtf”. Anyways i know how it feels and im just so discouraged. I played the sport for over 10 years and i guess it comes to an end.

Gracie Broughton I know that it's tough making a middle school team. But don't worry, you can always make it other years! I made my team the first year but many aren't that lucky. I understand. I started playing travel before I tried out. If I didn't and I just played rec, I wouldn't have made it. Maybe try a travel team! This season has been amazing!

That happened to me. I’m a pitcher and my coach would play me in the outfield and I didn’t like it. Eventually I got kicked off the team right after they moved to an A team. She emailed my mom and basically just said I wasn’t good enough for an A team. My mom asked for a refund because we had to pay for the team and we still haven’t gotten it back and it’s been like 3 months.

I love watching your softball videos! I remember my first tryout for softball and I was pumped I was ready the day before tryouts in 1 on 1 coaching I played great! Like absolutely great! The next day at tryouts in warmups I was doing pretty good! So the tryout really starts and I am like ready but I don't know what happened my brain totally just went upside down and I played awful the rest of the tryout when I left I knew I didn't make the team. I got in the car and I was just bawling I mean bawling I got home and just cried in my room I thought it was over i was going to quit but the next day I had bball camp with some of the girls that were at tryouts and I thought you know what these girls aren't going to get to me no!!! my hs vball program is so messed up and it’s just straight up politics , favoritism and such . 15 of us made it last year , 4 of us quit so there’s 11 of us left. we all worked our but off, staying late at nights , doing as much as possible , spending so much money on camps and stuff . players who were so good and personally the best on the team got cut and only 2 players , yes i’m telling ONLY 2, made it. it sucked that i didn’t make it and they were telling me so much good things abt me but what made me not make the team is my question ? 11 of us go in , 9 of us get cut and only 2 stayed. my bestfriend made the team and she’s really not that good but i can’t say anything about it but just be happy for her. i csnt change their decision but it’s alright with me because i know i’m not the only one. my mom is hella pissed though i can say . just how your mom reacted . reading these comments and watching your video made me smile because there’s so much of us with good potential but we aren’t given the chance to show them and be on the team .

I play for a really good travel lacrosse team...or at least played. I loved playing for that team so much and I played for a year and during tryouts for the 2nd year I thought I did super well and I was very confident I was gonna make the team...it's been more than a week and I haven't heard anything. I tryed out for my high school dance team since i have been in cheer for a while and wanted to try something different, so i had try outs and i did them with my friend and i thought i did well enough to possibly make it, i waited until the day they said the team and i saw me and one other number didnt make it. I was upset and completly having a breakdown after seeing that. i realized that my friend that i tryed out with made the team and my stomach dropped at the moment. of cource I was happy for her but i was still jealous and i just wanted to die at that moment. as of now a couple weeks after i found out I still think about it and when i do it consumes me and i feel exacly how i did when i saw the list of girls that made it. if you tryed out and didnt make it please do not be like me lol, so try to keep your mind off of it and dont stalk the teams instagram like I did becuase it will make it worse for me atleast, so try to stay positive and hey, atleast you tryed out and did your best and in life thats all you can do.

Yo I have nationalteam tryouts tomorrow. Last time I was rejected and I were heartbroken....i had made it to the national team all the other tryout but this time I failed. I started crying when I watch this video BC I am in 8th grade and I tried out for volleyball this year and last year and didn't make it both years. But I was better than most of the girls on B team this year. I even had girls come up to me and asked did I make the team and I said no and they were shocked BC I was better than most girls and those were girls from A team that ask me. So I know what it feels like feeling like ur not worth it and that can really bring u down for at least 2 weeks.

I wanted to play softball for my school but I missed the tryouts. There was also Fall Ball in my county and I couldn't make those Tryouts either . So then I was like, well maybe I should just try to do Volleyball ball and then guess what, I couldn't go to those Tryouts!! Hopefully I can join softball this spring though...😥

I was cut off a softball team. Didn’t got in into tryouts. I was so disappointed with myself. I just came back from resting for 1 year because I was collecting myself and managing ny anxieties. But still I didn’t got in. Maybe ut wasn’t for me. But I really wanted to play so bad, I was so ready. 💔

I've been playing volleyball for 3 years and this girl who never touched a volleyball made varsity and I made freshman and I cried my eyes out and I want to quit but I love volleyball I've put in so much hard work and I don't know what to do 😭

I tried out for cheerleading: cut I tried out for volleyball: cut I decided to do track cause I’d didn’t know what else to do: I made varsity (but I didn’t really enjoy it) I tried out for soccer this year: cut Now I don’t know what else to do!

I got cut freshman year as well. But I’m not giving up. In fact I’m gonna try to try out for more sports than just softball. Anyways this video helped me and made me think. Thank you.

I have my first ever tryout in a couple weeks. I've played competitive but we never had to tryout. This team is a club (obviously) but my previous team wasn't so i don't know what to expect or how to handle it. Also i'm trying out for a B level team in the new age division and before I only played C. I'm extremely nervous and I don't know the expectation. I need help.

So this year my coach moved me to second base for the team I played while the other freshmen were in outfield, but this one game the girl who was playing second base before me had to catch so I was hyped up ready to go play and I asked coach "you want me to go in?" And he puts an outfielder who's never played Infiled before on second. He puts that girl on two more times. This game both second basemans were out, the good one was moved to third and the one that took my place was injured so i was thinking "there's no way I'm not playing" and I see the coaches talking and they out another outfielder at second base instead of me. That kinda shattered any confidence I had, me and those girls are equal In the time that they played and neither of them like second base and I show up to every practice but it just seems I'm not good enough, my last tournament of the season is tomorrow and I'm praying to god they put me in for one last game. I just wanna prove myself so when fastpatch starts up again, I will be able to play since two infield spots will be open. I feel your pain and the bench sucks but I love my team to death. (My team isn't good, we're automatically varsity because we have a small school and over half of the team has only Played for a year, for me and the other freshmen that's less, so the 6 upperclassman player infield with an upperclassmen in outfield with 2 other freshman, one of the infielders is injured so that means I should be playing)

I just got cut from my high school dance team after on my freshman year. I truly think I was cut by the head coach because I'm Type 1 Diabetic and my coach hated "dealing with my diabetes". She never dealed with it, the assistant coaches were the ones that did everything to make sure I was okay. But I'm going to prove that coach(one of the graduating senoirs family called the coach 'dance Hitler) was wrong to not put me on.

Shit I got 1 from the cut off for my JV golf and I have been playing for only 2 yrs but it sucks cuz now I gotta focus on my studies but the thing that makes me feel good is that fact that the coach and I know that I will definitely be able to make it by next year 😅😮‍💨

one time i was at soccer tryouts for the portage lightning, there was 3 teams, green,white,yellow. anyway, the green team was the best, the white team was ok , and the yellow team was bad. i tried out and i was looking forward to be on the green team like last year but i got put on the white team. i was the only one who got dropped down. then i realized that the only reason why i didnt make the team was that i didnt show up at the indoor leuge because i was playing hockey.

Maybe the reason why you didn’t make it on the regular season team is because there were older girls who played your positions better. It didn’t mean that you were bad, it’s just there are a lot of good pitchers and second basemen. The coaches probably didn’t want to put you somewhere that you didn’t have experience in. It happens!

yea that has happened, my old coach at tryouts told me i made it bc it would of been my 2nd year with a team and then 2 days later he cut me and another girl right after he told us we made if

I can't relate, I always make a team, but I started learning to pitch. I learned fastball, riseball, and dropball. I tried out for that position on my team, and my coach really hated me. I threw perfect strikes, and the assistant coach who was catching for me said that I was very good and that I'd most certainly make it. But this coach had other plans. She made her best friend's daughter pitch, and she only knew fastball, and she pitched illegally! And our team's "pitcher's" best friend was the backup, and she was even worse! My parents got that coach removed.

yeah, I didn’t make my high school team this year (I’m a freshman). I’ve been on 2 comp teams just within 5 months where my high school tryout really let me down and affected the way I played as a pitcher but also affected me mentally. But after watching this I have a whole different view on this, thank you so much for this. Now I know that putting in the work will definitely pay off in the end. But do you have any other tips in regards to tryouts so I’m prepared for next season???

I just never made it :/ So they need one more player and decided to try me out and then this other person did good in defence this one game so they tried him out and personally I think I’m way better then him and then they told me that they picked me and I acted cool but on the inside my heart was broken. Also most of the team wanted me on the team. I’m so sad rn :(
