OCD feels like being possessed. Makes you into someone you’re not and do things (compulsions) you would otherwise NEVER do if you didn’t have OCD. So sick of this malicious illness. Praying to everyone else who struggles with ocd that it gets better for each and every one of you. You are not alone. ❤

Even my diagnosis of OCD is plagued by this questioning of intentions. I often think that maybe I'm making up my OCD to get sympathy from others, and it leads to me doubting the OCD in general, which just makes things even more muddy for me.

I'm really glad you said this. I was just diagnosed last week wirh OCD and my most recent intrusive thought is "What if I actually want these thoughts?"" What if they don't actually bother me, or they are a blue ribbon for me to walk around with and say,"Look at me. I'm special, I have OCD."

@@ocdandanxiety Nate i get the thought that it's me who is not putting the effort needed to prevent from these thoughts some times, or it's me who is comfortable with the pattern and don't want to break it, is it for real that with time a person starts to think that I am cleaner than others, you see, like the person when 1 times is enough and they wash it 2 times and could OCD patterns become an habbit. Or is it that OCD just started to work in an opposite way saying that Don't wash it, it's clean and I am now confused that is it clean or not?

Hey Don't worry at all, I have been through this I can understand that when you wake up and you are scared that you will face all that anxiety again. But, now i Don't, you know why, as i have somehow understood that these thoughts are not us,it's like the body has hands, but hands are not the body, similarly the brain provides you with thoughts as it's his job but u are in charge whether to think on them or not. so don't be afraid to think but try to may be control your thinking, that if you get some thought which you really don't know should be focused or not, so tell your brain we'll think about it when we may get some real information about it and for now as we don't have any info how can we think on it, it'll be a waste of time yeah. Trust me if the thought is not real, how will you get the real information, so it will remain skipped and if it will be real, so you didn't ignored that, you said you will find out.😇

I always get stuck on this advice of trying to teach my mind that I don't care, because I just feel like I am lying to myself. I know I care, and telling myself that I don't care just feels like a lie. It doesn't help that almost all of my compulsions are mental compulsions, so I am not really sure how to do ERP for them. I don't know how to prevent myself from responding with compulsions when a lot of the time I don't even realize I am doing a compulsion until later. In the moment I don't even recognize I am doing mental compulsions, I find myself ruminating in circles for 20+ minutes before I even realize I am stuck in another OCD loop.

Yes I question my intentions all the time. I hate to request for something, especially if it’s an extension on an assignment. Recently I had to request for an extension on an assignment to my professor who was gracious enough to give it to me. But for some reason I feel like I did not deserve it. At the same time, I had two assignments due that same evening! It’s like I want the worst for myself which is so frustrating! But I had to do it. I always question whether I’m morally sound and it affects me on a daily basis

I have a question, I have been diagnosed with OCD but it comes in waves. To the point where I wonder if I even have it. I will go months where my thoughts are really bad and debilitating, but then I will go months where I don't worry about my thoughts at all. The thoughts are still their, but they don't cause me anxiety. I'm wo during why this is? Why can I go so long where my OCD doesn't bother me much, but then all of a sudden, it's boom the OCD gets really bad again!

To me, what you're describing here sounds more like normal human anxiety in a social setting rather than typical OCD. OCD is more about certainty than uncertainty--I feel certain that if I don't flip this light switch up and down 25 times in a row that my parents will die or I know that that bump in the road I just felt was a person, etc. if you didn't feel certain then why would you bother with the OCD response at all?
@ocdandanxiety
@ocdandanxiety Ай бұрын
It's about uncertainty. You can't be 100% certain that doing a behavior will insure safety. Some may feel certain, but do the behaviors as a "just in case".
@tba1879
@tba1879 Ай бұрын
@@ocdandanxiety Possibly--it depends on how you skew it logically. But the whole you reason you flip the light switch or go back to check on the bump in the road is because you feel certain that something dreadful event will happen or because you fell certain that you hit someone--otherwise you would have no compelling reason to carry out these actions because they wouldn't carry enough weight in your consciousness.

They are not getting true because you did not do the compulsion...but instead you are looking for signs that the bad thing happened becuase you didn't do the compulsion...and if you get the faintest sign you just get the feeling that it happened because of not doing the compulsion because of ocd...You should never do the compulsion no matter how horrible the consequence OCD presents to you...or how real it seems..By not doing the compulsion your mind will soon clear and you will realize how foolish you were thinking...it is OCD's trick to fool you into doing compulsions...doing compulsions or reassuarance will only get you further into OCD's grasp and you will lose control of life...OCD will try to make you believe that it is real but dont believe it...follow what the videos of this channel teach you
