They call him " slowhand " ( not ole slowhand) because early on in his career every so often he'd be doing a furious solo and would break a string. So Eric would be on stage changing his guitar strings and the audience would start a slow hand clap. So they came up with the nickname " slowhand " because of this

He has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame three times, 1) Yardbirds 2) Cream, 3) his solo career. He is the only artist to achieve this. He wrote a song Tears In Heaven about his son who fell from 52nd floor high rise in NY. He was also good friends with Stevie Ray Vaughan. They played together the night SRV helicopter crashed.

He is considered in the top 3 greatest guitarist of all time. I have seen him 4 times all around the world. I saw him bring the Atlanta Civic Center to their feet with just that guitar. Amazing

Definitely do yourself a favor and check the original studio recording. It'll be by Derek and the Dominos, but that was Eric Clapton, with Duane Allman from the Allman Brothers on slide guitar.

How about a reaction to the man who Eric Clapton credited as getting him back into the blues, the legendary Rory Gallagher? Rory was considered to be as good and, by some, even better than Clapton, Beck and Hendrix. For early stuff, check out his performance with his first band Taste in 1971 at the Isle of Wight-"What's Going On?" or "Gambling Blues" are two outstanding pieces from that festival. Later stuff includes his Rockpalast (Loreley) performances which includes some great pieces. Try "Off the Handle" from 1979, "Moonchild" from 1982, or "Tatoo'd Lady" from 1979. You won't regret checking out his performances!
