I'm a 74 year old music lover. Been collecting records since 1955. Joe started young. He opened for B.B. King when he was 12, but could only do so on Friday and Saturday nights because he had homework the rest of the week. He holds the distinction of having more #1 Blues/Rock hits, gold and platinum albums than anyone in history. His performances with Beth Hart are epic as well as his other groups, Black Country Communion and Rock Candy Funk Party. (yes... I have 26 of his albums) I suggest you check out "Angel of Mercy" live at the Greek Theater or "Mountain Time" live at the Royal Albert Hall

When Joe was about 12 or 13, BB King said Joe would be a star.

You are watching a child prodigy who was 12 years old when he landed a gig sharing a billing with BB King in 1989. From that performance, BB King took him on tour as his opening act and the rest, as the saying goes, is history. Must listens: Trouble Town, Blue and Evil, You Upset Me, Feel Like Breaking Up Somebody's Home, You Left Me With Nothing But The Blues, Redemption, + many, many more.... the hole is very, very deep! Great reaction, TY.

Joe’s great. I’ve seen him many times. My favorite was at the Beacon Theater around 2017. I played blues and blues rock most my life. The best advice for playing blues that really was a game changer for me came from a friend’s Dad who was a studio session player. I asked how to play blues emotionally. He said simply, “focus on what you do in the spaces between the 🎉notes, not the notes themselves.” That lesson is easy to understand listening to Bonamassa, and pretty much every great blues player, play on this song. It’s not how many notes you play or how fast you can play them, it becomes how few notes can I play to tell the story I want to tell. Do this and in short time you will notice that your solos begin to say things that have a kind of meaning as opposed to sounding like just a bunch of notes. Here are some brilliant examples to familiarize yourself with, The Allman Brothers, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Cream, the 3 Kings (BB King, Albert King, Freddie King). Then learn to mix major and minor pentatonic scales and play over the changes with some arpeggios thrown in too. Now, do the same thing at a fast tempo weighted more in the major instead of the minor scale and you be rockin now. :)

I work in a music store. I like to try new things all the time because it helps with customer service. Joe Bonamassa was one of the first blues musicians where I thought to myself "do I like blues" I went down a small rabbit hole but I've come to thoroughly appreciate all forms of music. Most recently getting into Kpop, like yourself. Music truly is a journey. As someone who can appreciate all forms of music it's a shame those who can't. It's okay to not like other genres of music or certain artists but the way some people are so hateful in their comments is beyond me. Keep the videos coming. One of my favourite channels.

I have seen Joe many times and his live shows are always incredible!!! He plays this song in homage to the great Gary Moore!!! You need to checkout “Mountain Time”, “John Henry”, “Dust Bowl”, and “Sloe Gin”. Not to mention anything he does with Beth Hart!!

Yeah it's not a coincidence everybody you seen play at Royal Albert Hall has done a super good job. It's because you can't just book The Hall it's not like a regular Stadium here in America you have to be super Top notch to get to play there. From what I've heard you have to actually request to play there and then they check you out to see if you're " qualified"
@allenshort12882 жыл бұрын
If this is your first introduction to blues guitar, you have a huge rabbit hole to go down! I would suggest Stevie Ray Vaughn's performance of "Texas Flood" at the El Macombo. This video will make you feel unworthy of owning a guitar. After that, check out the history of guitarists who influenced Clapton, Page, and Hendricks.
@luiskarnov61312 жыл бұрын
Congratulations! You've discovered this great talent... he's so good at what he does that he's at the top of the best guitar solos I've ever heard. I'm a metalhead and I know solos like Necrophagist and Carcass but Joe has something that is Brutal! he watches these solos and then tell me if I'm wrong: I'd Rather go Blind (Live in Amsterdam) and I'll Take Care of You (Live at Beacon Theater NY). Success!!
