Fishing spots like this is great fun. Especially when random people wander past and tell me I'm mad for fishing there, then I hook up and their jaw drops. Also it can be a really cheap way of fishing as you don't need anything fancy. A $20 Kmart combo, loaf of bread and a jam jar with some tackle and you've got your weekend sorted.

I work for an aquarium and pond maintenance company so I have to know my fish. Mirror carp were bred to have big or minimal scales to make them easier to clean for eating. Asian carp is what gold fish and koi descend from. Koi are just selectively bred Asian carp, whilst goldfish types have been even more selectively bred. But all can interbreed with each other. The scale pattern on that massive Mirror carp would suggest it is a cross breed between a koi and a carp. This is because koi fish, like Mirror carp, were bread to have no or minimal scales. So when they gross with a wild type carp, the genetics make the scales large and irregular, which is how you get that pattern. Honestly, I'd have loved to get that Mirror carp off you alive for breeding because that large and irregular scale pattern is now highly desirable in fancy goldfish types. I might head down to Melbourne to try my luck for a breeding project.

AND THEY ARE ALL PEST FISH DESTROYING NATIVE FISH HABITATS AND EATING FINGERLINGS OF NATIVE FISH . Introduced in the 1970's AND HAVE NOW TAKEN OVER OUR RIVER SYSTEMS . They can survive out of water for hours .Some carp are bottom feeders .Mirror carp were not breed to make it easier to SCALE !! THEY ARE A DIFFERENT BREED OF CARP AND ARE SPREAD THROUGH OUT EUROPE .MY GRANDPERANTS CUAGHT THEM IN RIVERS AND STREAMS IN THE 1930'S !!!!!!! IN EUROPE . !!!!! YOUR FACTS ARE VERY WRONG !!!!!!!!!! I SUGGEST YOU READ UP FACTS BEFORE MAKING STUPID STAMENTS IN YOUR VIDEOS !!!!! 😡

Hey mate, am enjoying your vids, I like the urban fishing - it's amazing the fish you can find in some dirty drains 😁. Also it seems like ya channel is growing, & so of course along with the people who just enjoy your vids, ya gonna get more dropkicks saying ""stop making that noise" or "stop talking like that" or " I'd watch more of your vids if you stopped doing X , or Y , or Z". Don't listen to them, be yourself - it's what's got people watching already, & if you change in response to the haters you're not gonna enjoy yourself. I mean shit, it's the internet, your always gonna have some people who need to pull you down to feel good about themselves. Anyway mate keep on making good vids & plenty of people like me will keep watching. Cheers.

There was a period before shutting off the plant they stocked heaps of Barramundi in there to eat all the cichlids and it was a pay to fish area for anglers to catch Victorian Barramundi and was limited to how many people could go per day and it got destroyed! Once it got turned off apparently the fish would die but i have never been back to check since.

@juzadventures I knew the bloke that released the convict cichlids there. He would catch them and sell them to the tropical fish shops, and out of the one he worked in, I think he also released geophargous brazilensis.amoung others, as they would grow bigger than any tank raised fish.

If you want to try something really stupid that has caught me a shit load of carp at Morgan on River Murray SA . Try Raspberry Licorice, sliced across thinish. Or white bread mixed with Raspberry jelly crystals ( whole packet ) some flower and water . need it to a very stiff dry dough and roll a ball on the hook. Interested to know if it works else where or do I just have really stupid carp here. .

I believe in NSW you can use a compound bow with a fishing reel and rope to an arrow and just shoot them with that but in VIC that is illegal unfortunately. Bread crust floats and the carp love that and will surface as well for it and corn or bread would be better using as bait on a rod if you only wanted carp but the cheese should get the cod as well if they are around 👌 Either sit close to the rod or have the drag loose as i have lost too many rods camping due to leaving them unattended 😆 Usually i shoot the carp as well but not in the water, i land them first then target practice before going out for deer

@juzadventures we know it's not exactly legal, and none were my guns as I don't have a licence.. But it's just something we did growing up, and any police encounters were always handled by great local police who just had to shine their torch on the water and see a bunch of dead floating carp.. They just left us alone once guns and registrations were checked and cleared. This was the late 90s early 2000s when things were easier in life. We also had some nice 4x4s to get us, bikes, and our gear to nice untouched sandy beaches away from ANY camp sites, so we could have loud heavy metal playing, lots of beer and weed and no one to bother

Find a waterway and its name and try googling fish species in it and fish accordingly 👌

Yeyeyeyeyeyeyeye! Sometimes you take the warning signs and accept the fact, And i had so many comments asking to stop and it was way more than i should have had so i had to take action and cut them out in editing 🤣 Next video i might put one in but i respect my viewers opinions and had to bite the bullet. Barramundi often all end up being the same size in a billabong - because they eat anything smaller than them, so only the same size fish survive. Looks like the same thing happens with carp.

The only way to control the problem we have is by fishermen like me and you to do our best and hope everyone else helps by removing the carp and we can make rivers fishable again for natives little by little 🙏

The creek that runs through watergardens shopping centre has giant carp that get fat on cigarette butts and other rubbish that Brimbank council likes to ignore, I wouldn't eat them though they're more of a catch and release proposition.

They made the best fertiliser in the world. Car are one of the most invasive species in this country. We are draining rivers to get rid of them but we don’t want to get rid of them for nothing as I said they make fantastic fertiliser and many other things grow very well from them as for the taste of the car. No thank you. I’d rather have eels especially jelly deals or muscles. regards from down under beware of the cone fish that around our island we lose too many tourists be safe.
