Good build although I don't think there is all that much difference with slightly slower variations. You also lose some efficiency power building temple and gathering with so many villagers favour although it's probably still better to do so to get vault early. Most of all I think you could stop getting favour after the initial 15, or continue just with 1 vil, and get wood/gold so you can drop an expansion at 4.15 or 4.30. it's very greedy but against stuff like Thor, Gaia and even Egypt I think that has potential. Sentinels plus your early heroes should be enough to defend unless they went up really early.

What is the timing you're trying to go for here eventually? The tech is quite expensive and if we assume its cost is approximately 350 res then it will take just under 3 minutes at 120 gpm to break even, so not only you're delaying your age up but provided that you hit your 2:10 timing then it'll only start giving you an advantage at 5:40-ish, and if you're giving up the early game initiative anyway it seems going for a second TC might be stronger (and not as map/spawn dependent) in the long run.

It's not 350 res, it's 200 wood 15 favor. He says it's the equivalent of 3 vills on gold. If we assume that's correct, then it seems plausible. Last I checked, the Thor builds were considered strong, and for that you need 90w for the armory plus a bunch of resources for upgrades. You end up with about 3 extra dwarves when you hit Classical. The investment cost seems similar enough by a rough estimate. It is the kind of build you'd want if your opening plan is to out-eco them on 1 TC. This would be the case if you think getting a 2nd TC is too risky, and you also don't want to rush them with that 200 wood. You expect to be on the defensive and want an eco advantage so if you hold correctly you're ahead and can do a counter-push or timing attack. I think if your wood doesn't spawn near the gold then you can still do this on straggler trees, it's just slightly more walking time.

I like to do a timing attack with cyclops archers and UW. Very strong. Getting VOE delays me needing a 2nd gm for so long so I can just sit in my base.

@@dougyt92 you can always drag in hippos and other food sources no matter the map. If you can’t share storehouse the build changes a little but you can still get a 2:20

Assuming the worst case where the gold mine isn't close to a bunch of trees, how would you adapt this build order? Not sure if straggler trees are the way to go, or to instead have 3 on favor and send the favor vill from TC to wood instead.

@@mrniceguy8927 I have another build for that. You can get a 2:20. It’s split 3 gold 1 wood 4 food right when you get 150 gold put down temple then 3 to wood and then 1 to straggler tree. Once you get enough wood for house and voe switch straggler tree vill to food

I actually think this build can be pretty good against Thor. Vault of Erebus is basically equivalent to 3 vills on gold.

Yeah but towers, forts or TC counters the rush cav strat, this is why you always saw the experts in the tournament building defense, in age of mythology its easier to counter cav, cav is not scary if you have half a brain, I mean a full brain is like half a brain in RTS games right, its never easy for most haha. Hades also gets the sentries

@@33mavboy what u mean bro norse have no archers. Throwing axeman can clap buildings so easy cuz they have hack damage and they are infantary not archer but the problem is they are infantary and Hades have toxotes which is counter against infantary that means we dont need to attack buildings we need to get map control thats why we use cavs. And 1 of em is anti archer (raiding cav) other one is good for evertyhing (jarl). Even if u need to smash buildings u can use mountain giant and walking woods. Do we really need other things ? I believe that ur newbie but thats okey and yes this game called age of MYTHOLOGY use MYTH units and god powers yeah 😅

Does this build work on maps where you start with Hippos or Rhinos as a start hunt or is it strictly for maps where there is Elk and Deer? I assume if there is aggressive hunt you have to shoot it down with the tc and run with the villager that baits it.

@@teo9619 yes it’s actually better when it spawns with hippos. Don’t need the scout to push the animals in. It’s way easier to execute.

Doing this delays your food income as youre pulling vills off towards favor. Do you think ageing up later is worth the passive gold income?

It is definitely worth it. The tech is like having about 3 vills on gold. It’s really good to get as early as possible. Also a 4:15 isn’t really that late
