I stayed in this Bothy in July 2017 with my work colleague Fraser (we are both in the Navy). We met other walkers here too one being an ex-Royal Marine who was in his early 70’s and we all stayed up that night with a fire and a bottle of whiskey. In the morning we gave this old bloke ration packs we stole from work and he went on his way. You kinda take these memories for granted till you think about them.
@amirbloomenfeld60663 жыл бұрын
Nice episode on the "Zac and Jay" show. Shows some real world guys wanting to get into the deep end and rough of it and just plowing through while being chipper. Going to their destination with minimal plan and supplies. Obviously they come across as amateur with the perceived expectations, reactions to the real world.... and lack of proper gear. But I like this 100 times more than watching some old professional outdoorsman go at it with his expensive stuff and show everyone you need to pay a lot of $$$ to have an adventure. These guys genuinely have a good time, rough it out, and just jump into the deep end. I don't see anything wrong with that, in fact, it makes it more interesting and real. Keep up the good work there Zac n Jay. You two blokes are right gold and I hope you never get spoiled by fame or fortune.

Careful man if it’s anything like this video he seems to rely solely on an app on his phone to navigate and that’s not very professional. I’d check if he’s qualified and has the relevant experience to lead people in mountains first. If he’s relying solely on a phone with no compass and map navigation then I’d be wary
@inventiv33 жыл бұрын
@@ZenzeroCAM all part of the adventure mate. I go hiking a lot, with a planned route via an app usually. I’m no expert on navigation. It’s Scotland, or Peaks or Lakes not the Himalayas. Thank you though
@ZenzeroCAM3 жыл бұрын
@@inventiv3 That is the most ridiculous statement I've read. No wonder so many people run into trouble getting lost in the Highlands because tits like you come here thinking "ach it's piss easy eh". Well, maybe I'll bump into you when I'm out with the Mountain Rescue at some point. You may have a planned route on an app but once you get into the mist on the Cairngorm Plateau and the thick fog rolls in and you lose the barely visible path. It starts to rain or it's -10 windchill and your phone dies. Which way you going to go? Maybe just back the way you came? Oops no you've veered to the right and now you're just walking further and further away from help or onto an overhanging snow patch leftover from winter. The vast majority of call outs we deal with are from people unprepared because "it's just a little hike" and when you see the deadly consequences up close it's rage inducing to see people still act so blasé about it. Now this guy may know how to use a map and compass but if he doesn't then not only has he endangered himself but he's endangered all his paying customers who put their trust in him.
