Ac Gardener not sure where it derives from but you are somewhat correct on the rest. As I learned in my discrete math lectures, ø is used to describe an empty set which is what Bourbaki “invented”. The symbol existed beforehand, but he gave it another meaning in terms for math.

@@stratuxz Why do i get the feeling that a 'null set', or 'null loop', which my husband just described vaguely,which sounds like a glitch, but apparently has value as a placeholder, a part of the infrastructure of the syntax in some math & computer languages to sort of 'stand in' through iterations of problems..but here's what tripped me out: its like an equation that's always the same: same sequence,same outcome & even though the result is almost like the equation saying 'this is a frock-up' every time,for whatever necessary use this fulfills, it reminds me so much of Tyler's continuous struggle:escape, go to Trench, get dragged back, rinse, repeat.. how has nobody pointed out that one of the major works of the Bourbaki Group was the attempt of a mathematical proof of God. "Ones and zeros, count to infinity" might be another reference from morph. I think this is relevant cuz they tried to find a logical reason for the existence of God. As we saw in the past, Tyler struggeled a lot with doubt in his believes.

Also In the music video In Nico and the Niners Tyler is escaping through Under ground tunnels. As he say in "Bandito" "I could take the high road, but I know that I'm going low." He means that he is going through the tunnels to escape Nico. It also makes me wonder if Josh has already made it out, went to get more banditos to help Tyler escape from Nico. Nicholas Bourbaki, the math group, is also heavily influenced by alchemy and morphing certain elements with math as a base. I believe Tyler used the name because it represents the bishop morphing souls into something darker. Also, Keons is one of the bishops so he's not as much a god, but more the dark part of someone like all the bishops and Blurryface. That could still refer to a world without God or the disorder and worry about death when you are faithless though. And Clancy is not as much a part of Tyler, but more a character he created so that he could explore Dema. So it's like he's a copy or a shell for Tyler to explore Dema and Trench in. Now for Morph, the song is about running from darkness, that either being death or mental illness. But the two kind of go hand in hand when it comes to Twenty One Pilots. *There's no "above", or "under", or "around" it * Meaning there is no way to escape what he is running from. *For "above" is blind belief and "under" is sword to sleeve * Going above death is believing in God, believing there is something more that is larger than death and life. But with that also comes the fact that there's no proof for God and therefore it's blind belief. Under means that they'll take themselves out before darkness can get to them, aka committing suicide. A sword to sleeve there refers to a weapon that they should've put away, something they use to harm themselves and kill themselves but really shouldn't. *And "around" is scientific miracle, let's pick "above" and see* With around they mean escaping death but staying on the same plain. So basically teasing death in a way. I'm pretty sure with scientific miracle they mean healthcare and stuff like that, science helping you escape death by curing illness etc. *For if and when we go "above", the question still remains * *Are we still in love and is it possible we feel the same?* This is them saying even if they pick above and pick God, there's still worry whether they truly believe in God and therefore love him. Being in love could also refer to God not loving him back so basically him saying he puts blind belief in God but he doesn't receive care back, which in turn makes him question God more and love him less. *And that's when going "under" starts to take my wonder* Which brings us to them considering death because he can't see his belief in God helping him out and teasing death via scientific miracle won't keep him forever. One more thing, the heatless fire in Bandito refers to the neon. It's what the bishops use to keep the subjects interested. It resembles fire, draws attention, but in the end doesn't give them the warmth and life that fire does. It also refers to how neon is used in the gravestones in Necropolis. They are there to be admired but there's no soul, no fire, under it because the people are dead. Completely unrelated, but the cat is very cute.

As an addition to the morph - Nicolas bourbaki connection, the French group's most famous theory was the theory of "topology" (if the name isn't ironic enough) The theory states that all shapes and all matter is completely malleable that no matter how much effort you put into trying to "morph" one shape into another, all this matter remains the same; therefore nothing about it is truly different. I think "east is up" is about a rebelling, see: There's a letter by clancy on the Dema website saying "get out, the compass lies". Small correction: In the play "All my Sons" (which is by Arthur Miller btw), from which twenty one pilots got their name, the airplane engineer knowingly sells faulty airplane parts to the air force, in order to be able to provide for his family. This isn't about shame or pride, it is about survival. And that's also the main reason why they chose to use this as their name and their inspiration. It is about the decision between doing what's easy (-> selling faulty parts though they are faulty) or what's right (-> not selling the parts and not getting paid for it). This is what keeps them working, and probably that is also the reason why they are working so hard. Because of course you could work with 7 different producers and 3 songwriters and they will probably get you a hit song every month, but that isn't the "right thing". Something I had to add, because it blew my mind last night at 2 am... So in both of those incidents, two men didn't stand up for truth in fear of embarrassment. My theory one that is that, you have to look back on what is nico. Nico is blurryface, then what is blurryface. Blurryface is the things Tyler doesn't like bout himself... insecurities it u will. Then put that so it fits universally. BLURRYFACE IS INSECURITIES . Insecurities have been around since pretty much the beginning of time. SO THATS HOW THE BOURBAKI GROUP WAS NAMED AFTER NICOLAS BOURBAKI. Even though Tyler was not around in the 1930s to name insecurities nico, it doesn't mean the insecurities weren't there. (This prblaby doesn't make sense but I tried)

It lines up to me. Tyler said that the Nicolas Bourbaki group named themselves after Nicolas Bourbaki, I think trying to point the clique back to the original NB. In my opinion, OliviaKathryn has offered the best explanation for who the original NB was. I hope we keep discussing it until they finally drop enough clues for us to figure out if we're right.

Tyler "abused" God's grace to change himself for the future/present, but in the end he realizes that changing a name or place can't change him, and he's still "lame," but now he can't change enough anymore and knows that it's hurting him. TL;DR Tyler tried to change himself into a better person, but the new him is the same him and is destined for the same fate. Idk, maybe I'm just rambling but I thought that was interesting.

If east means Israel and therefor Jesus, the lyrics of Levitate might refer to that. For example, when Tyler says "Come down, come down" he is pointing at the sky and then ground as if he wanted a physical proof of Jesus, and the same goes with "theyre smirking at fresh blood, theyre circling around, but this is not enough". I linked "smirking at fresh blood" with the bad things that happen all the time all over the world even though God should be able to stop it, "My heart is with you hiding but my mind's not made" -> he wants to believe but he doesnt know if it's reasonable anymore, and at 1.38 he looks like he is praying. The lyrics might mean something completely different, this is just what i noticed and i would like to know what you guys think ||-//

Sara xxx soo, I was just checking out the comments and I came across one that mentioned DEMA being a Latin word for “city of death” and something about vultures coming to eat the dead bodies or something, idk. Anyways, as I scrolled to see more comments I saw yours right below and saw how you mentioned the song Levitate and the lyrics and I couldn’t help but link both comments together and ended up doing some little late-night research lol, and I came across a picture of DEMA called “Dakhma” (or Tower of Silence) and this is what it said...”A Dakhma (Persian: دخمه ; Avestan: lit. “tower of silence”), also called a Tower of Silence, is a circular, raised structure built by Zoroastrians for excarnation - that is, for dead bodies to be exposed to carrion birds, usually vultures.” ....sooo maybe the lyrics in Levitate are referring to those vultures surrounding the bodies but it’s just not enough?? I’m not sure. I just got hooked on this topic and I got a little excited by trying to connect theories 😂

the play was called "all my sons" and the man who makes that decision kills himself at the end when he finds out his SON killed himself once HE finds out that the DAD was responsible for the death of his crewmates in the army BECAUSE he felt like they were brothers to him, hence the name all my sons the dad makes the decision to send out the parts so that his family will have enough money to survive the war, and he thought they would catch the mistake earlier on, but they didn't and he suffered the consequences. idk if this helps but there's that :)

I was showering earlier and had a massive Godzilla sized shower thought. Okay okay here's my hypothesis: what if Nicholas bourbaki is going after his next prey, Josh Dun? In morph after it seemed that Tyler didn't take the low road, at the end there's the low voice effect that is supposed to be blurryface/nico incorporated into the song as stated by tyler, saying "not done, not done, Josh Dun." Nico successfully trapped Tyler inside of the city in the end, and noting that Josh is a bandito, in his personal agenda he is next on the hit list. As he is known to, by hand, force victims back to dema. He is not done , not done, up next is Josh dun. Don't know if it's been theorized, or mentioned but man it blew my mind into "smithereens"

I always thought that line was kind of a joke, like how "Josh Dun" is in The Judge. But I never really thought about what the "not done" part meant; this makes a lot of sense. :O

I still think it's just a joke like in the Judge. On the "not done" part, I think he just means either he's not done morphing or the song isn't finished. If you listen really closely to the very end of the song you hear the words "morph, morph, mo-mo-mo-mo-mo-done!"

Kanuea had a similar thought, they do have that pattern. However, how would you go on to explain the deep voice sound effect? It's a little too suspicious they'd choose to use that in the same way they ended stressed out and songs like fairly local
