I know what you mean about not caring for brush hogging. Before I retired I worked for a school district and we had 85 acres to mow. We had a 14 foot batwing mower and I got so tired of mowing. I enjoy watching other people mowing or brush hogging. So I really enjoyed your video.
@khtractors4 ай бұрын
I’ve always wanted to try mowing with 12 or 14 ft batwing. They seem to leave a nicer finish. Thanks for watching
@gpax-61974 ай бұрын
One more suggestion: unless you need to lift the back end of the mower, disconnect the center clevis. Let your mower solely float on the rear arms. You’ll notice the difference. 👍. Also, as soon as you can, get rid of the fixed lift arms, get yourself a set of adjustable arms. Save the back, and less headaches for hooking up.

I’ve done that some before. Thanks for watching

I would rather brush mow than cut my yard every week . Yard is approximately 4 acres. I used to brush hog the whole place , around 60 acres . Been mowing some of it for hay the last 5 or 6 yrs.

As you may recall, only plowing surpasses bushhogging as my favorite tractor time. I find this time to be one that allows me to meditate upon the Lord. However, small patches, overhanging limbs, and hidden obstacles disabuse that peace; because I spend too much time backing up or circumnavigating them vs enjoying the peace of the ride. Perhaps it is not your favorite time for similar reasons. Please give my best to Benny - I think of him often.

Some good advice with the three point arms floating! For me, sometimes I need a little reminder to help me out. I guess we all can get distracted by so many things going on that we miss the simple things we already know. Some great advice for people that don't brush hog a lot, or those that don't. I am not a fan of brush hogging, I'm with you on that, rather be cutting hay! Hey great video, thanks and have an awesome day!

I agree with you about not liking to bush hog. I’ve been doing it for over 50 years and still dread it. Getting a cab tractor helped with the heat and allergies but staying in the seat is the main problem. My terrain will beat you to death 😢I still love the results though!! You and the JD did a great job 👍

I enjoy my mowing. I turn up the air conditioner, get the music playing, and just relax and mow. Now my nephews don't enjoy it as much as I do, yet, they get the open station tractors and usually come away awful dirty.

I like mowing Ben but I've never used a disc mower as I still use my trusty old Massey 41 dynabalance sickle mower. I know the disc mowers are much more efficient but just something satisfying about the sight and sound of a well running sickle. I had a 7' Bush Hog brand tag a long mower that cut like a beast but they are heavier and the issue I had with it was using it in tight spaces and backing in to places like you do. I sold it and got a Tennessee River heavy duty 8' mounted mower, with twin blades for my Massey 283 and it really cuts well and leaves a nicer finish than the big single spindle mower I had. Another great video as I always enjoy watching you operate your tractors like the true pro you are.

I like most anything I'm doing with a tractor but I'd much rather mow with something besides a bush hog too. I have some really steep land that had grown up and I've finally gotten it to the point where I can sickle mow most of it now. I enjoy it much better and can do it much faster as well. Thanks for the video.

Hello Ben, and Godbless you & yours. I didn't understand what you said about "changing pins" on the 3-point to enable it to "float." I understand float on the Front End Loader (FEL), but I've not heard of that on the 3-point. If you don't mind, would you explain that just briefly, pls? Thanks, bro. : )
@khtractors4 ай бұрын
On the lower lift arms there is a link going between them and the rock shaft that lifts the arms. On that link there is a slot and if you move two spacers into a different position it will let the lower links move freely about 2” on each side. So when going over twisted terrain the implement will maintain ground contact better. Thanks for watching

Grood Video of the John deer and the bush hog, Like you I do not enjoy bush hogging as much as I used to. Also, Like you I think I would like to try a Pull behind . But most of the places I have to bush hog are on hillsides and It just up and down anyway. Besides my 3 point bush hog is going on 12 years now, Maybe my next one will be bigger and of a different design...but that looks like a few years away
