Capablanca never studied opening theory, in fact one of the reasons why he didn't faced Lasker before was bc one of the terms he had to agree to was to have basic opening knowledge about the queen's gambit declined. He was deeply offended by that and completely raged that he burnt the letter, spreading fire across his town and then beat the postman who delivered it, asking how one can deliver such message to the endgame god.

14:25 unforgivible mistake to not mate with pawn f3
@kurtzipagan67045 жыл бұрын
The puzzle part,I think there's a improvement in the move,its rook captures pawn in e6,if knight captures,then Bishop to d3 check,wherever the king moves there's no defense againts queen captures pawn in h7 and its checkmate so knight captures rook doesn't work because Knight defends the h7 pawn,its silly if queen captures rook,it's defended by the bishop,another line,if queen capture pawn d4,then pawn to h5,so if King captures the pawn,it's the same what agadmator shows in the vid,but if King to h6 then rook captures pawn f6 and its checkmate another line,if queen goes to d7 to attack your queen then queen captures queen,knight captures queen,Bishop takes pawn e6,Knight needs to be move somewhere else so in endgame your a pawn up,I thought rook capture pawn e6 is the line.

@CaimSama5 жыл бұрын
Then you move the bishop to H5, to attack the knight, if you defend with ne7 then f4 is winning, black either sacs the queen, or go kf6 and be met with Qf7 checkmate. the other way of defending the knight is e5, but then you take the knight nonetheless as if the queen recaptures white has Qh4 checkmate, so it becomes a free piece. 8/7Q/1p1qppn1/6k1/r2P4/6P1/4BP2/4R1K1 b - - 0 1 this is the position on Chess.com, you can see how it works there :)

I think lasker was most dominating champion ever.
@brianhoward83365 жыл бұрын
No! He *monopolized the title for 12-15 years* too long! At that time there was no governing international chess federation like FIDE to force the champion to play the No. 2 ranked player every two years. That came in 1924 during Capablanca's reign. The champ at that time determined: (1) who he would play, (2) when he would play, (3) the purse amount, (4) how the earnings were divided and (5) even the rules. Lasker *took full advantage of this* and agadmator did a separate video on the negotiations between Lasker and Capablanca. I recommend you see it. What Lasker put him through was as tedious and infuriating as reading through a legal disclaimer for a website today. Last point: WWI also delayed their title match further allowing Lasker to hold the title longer.
@brianhoward83365 жыл бұрын
@Oissev Onos Yes he's one of the most dominant players ever but there are decades of great champions after him to also consider for that debate. We've spoken before Oissev but I felt these points needed to be shared with Shirish. I personally thought Lakers' negotiations with Capablanca were harsh and self serving. I believe this should be shared with chess enthusiasts. Fischer decades later believed the Russians were negotiating harsh with him regarding his match with Spassky and I'm sure the Lasker-Capablanca negotiations were in his mind when he became so demanding during their match. I'd like to see your video if you don't mind.

I'm not saying that lasker is better than capablanca but it is hard to beat lasker with such result if he's focusing on chess. Lasker is a polymath and in 1921 he has many activities to do including philosophy and mathematics unlike capablanca who is really obsessed with chess intensively.

I do not fully agree with the quote of Capablanca in the top. Playing a game of chess involves more than pure logic. It is also very much a matter of psychology: controlling your emotions and nerves. It might even be so that this is just as important as the logic part.
