When my wife of 25 years died from her 13 year battle with cancer it almost ended me. I was in a very bad state, but with two sons who lost their mother I knew I needed to pull myself up and help them grieve along with me. I never thought I could or would find love again, but I did. She pulled me up out of my despair. I was reluctant at first but my younger son said to me "mom told me she never wanted you to be alone". So, a few years after my first wife's death I remarried. We've been married now for 20 years. Even so, there has never been a day that I haven't thought about or missed my first wife, and I hope the day never comes when I do forget. The pain never goes away completely and there are days, well, parts of days, when the sadness is overwhelming, but life now is good. I'm happy that Rory has found new love. I played "When I'm Gone" at the funeral for a young musician that had taken his own life. It was difficult but at the same time healing. I wish for him and his new wife a long and happy marriage.

Thank you for your comment and transparency. It gave me encouragement and hope in my own great loss after a thirty one year marriage to my dear husband. This week would have been my thirty second anniversary. We have five children all of whom have been and are such a blessing and encouragment to me both spiritually and practically. My youngest just turned eighteen. My strong godly husband was first afflicted nineteen years ago but recovered. Seven years after that he was afflicted again but could no longer work. He had been such a hard working man. After twelve years complications took him so suddenly and unexpectedly. It has not even been a year yet....I turned sixty shortly after his death. Your comments just resonated with me and I appreciate honesty and transparency. Very few people know long term suffering and loss. So many around me are cold and just say get over it. I am a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ and I will get on with life only by his comfort, strength and light on my path from His holy word. I thank God for others that have been helped through such pain. The Lord bless you and your wife with the days you share together on earth. Just thought I would thank you for sharing.

Wow- I went through almost the exact same thing as you… But my first husband died suddenly of a heart attack after 25 years of marriage. About three years later, I married a man who had experienced the very same thing of losing his wife suddenly when you expressed your feelings, it seems exactly what I have been through when you have an excellent first marriage… It is possible to find love again. My first marriage was for 25 years and now I’ve been married 27 years to my second husband we have bonded in very special ways. Interesting that when I see this video of Rory and Rebeca I get sad feelings of… How can this be….. but he is singing until death to us part which I promised to my first husband and my second husband. My husband passed away in 2009 at the age of 47 & we were married 27 years. It was unexpected & happened after heart surgery he had. I was devastated and just wanted to die but I knew I had to pull it together for my 3 adult (young adult) children. 2 yrs later God brought another love into my life, he lost he wife of 33 years to cancer. We saw each other at a church function and started talking. (Funny thing is, he’s a friend of my family’s from back when I was a teen and babysat his boys!). It’s amazing how God works and brought to broken hearts together. We’ve been married for 13 years now! Grief is hard, still have days that hurt like it was yesterday but we understand each other and are there for each other. I’m so happy for you Rory and Rebecca, may your marriage be blessed with many happy years to make beautiful memories.

This was so sweet and so perfectly produced....I felt like I was at the wedding too! The carriage reminded me of the story my great grandmother told of her wedding day in the early 1890s. She was only 18 when she married my great grandfather, and he was a widower with 4 children from his previous wife. After the ceremony at the local church, a horse drawn wagon was pulled up to her and when she went to climb up into it, her oldest stepchild --- a boy only 5 years her junior --- held out his hand and said to her, "Let me help you up, Mama." It touched her deeply to her very core. She went on to have 8 more children with my great grandfather...her first was my grandmother, born in 1895!

When my husband died in 2020 we could not have his funeral until 2021 due to Covid. I had 160 people in my backyard ( I live on 6 acres) and I believe had the service he would have loved. Our friend sang a song called Don’t Blink and everything was as perfect as it could be. Now almost 4 years later I feel strong enough and healed enough to find a companion, only to realize I might be too old. Or rather, everyone else in my age category is too old. The song that brought me here makes me cry, feel envy, feel happy on their behalf and hopeful that there’s someone for everyone out there. Russ the bus driver driving at the end was amazing ❤I met Rebecca several times at the Christmas shows and often thought she's a good match ❤I prayed with Rory one night after the concert and he told me he had big things ahead that needed prayer and thanked me for following God's lead. I watched everything I could about Joey and Rory. Rory is what encouraged me to go on in life and enjoy life for my late spouse. I lost my husband just a couple months after Joey died. He was sick too. (Liver Disease). I married one of his friends last fall. This makes my heart happy to see Rory happy again too

I’m so sorry @MichiganMike …. I lost my Husband in 2015 at the age of 49, and I vowed I would NEVER love or marry another man. I would get so angry and hurt when people mentioned it in passing! I am a complete mess right now. The tears just keep flowing. I am so happy for Rory, Rebecca, and little Indy. They all deserve all the blessings and happiness in the world. The wedding song could not be more perfect. I knew Rebecca was special when Hardison Mill opened its doors to the world during COVID. Most of my cousins teach, and they found many of the lessons being taught in that little school helpful and incorporated them in their lessons. A lot of children were helped. I pray that Rory and Rebecca are blessed with many happy years together.

I was in my music therapy internship when Joey passed away and I had a client who had been so sad about it. I learned all about the beautiful couple and my heart went out to Rory and Indiana. When I lost my husband whom I loved so much, God spoke to me and said if I poured all my love into a glass for him, I don’t have to pour out that love to make room for someone else, God gives us a new glass.
