This is what every 18 year old who thinks they know better says about politics lol, I've been there. Do whatever you want, but at one point you'll realize that even if you don't care about politics it still has an impact on you. Laws will be written that you don't like, you can complain about them, but know that you didn't make an effort to try to change it

@@-Eternal-Damnation- It's funny though, I went from not caring at all about politics or the government when I was 18 to graduating with a degree in PolSci when I was 23, now I work for the government. I think a large part of me being like that at 18 was just because there was no political education in public school, I got interested in politics after an elective on state and local government in college

@DEFUNCT-v8x it can and does especially in state and local elections, also, political advocacy does not begin and end with voting. There are other methods to show support for changes you want to see

It's a game of favoritism and pure pressure. If you aren't behind one party, you're out'd as a contrarian or a "democrat." What sucks is a majority of the voters are elderly people, so you have "political correct" people who believe they know everything about politics. Argue all you what, people are going to vote Trump for god knows what stupid reason, and if Harris wins, cool. I don't care. I'm already struggling in an economy that puts quantity over quality, so nothing of it will be new to me. I'd rather have an AI rule the country than have to rely on choosing two people who don't respect/like each other (y'know, the same way two children would, lol)

You have the right not to vote- abstaining is a legitimate position. The whole idea is you have the freedom to choose in this country, and abstention is a choice.

pretty naive take to be honest, you may have no interest in politics, but it most certainly has an interest in you. You are also a form of cope. I would advise any young man who respects himself to educate themselves on politics. "politics should never be connected to morals" when almost all of politics derives directly from morals. You think you are deep, however you are really just ignorant, you believe to be above it all, but when uncle sam comes knocking, you won't have the same take.

I don't think anybody actually LIKES politics, other than people who have nothing else better to do than argue. Politics are something that people have to deal with whether they like it or not. Its fine to hate politics but they're still gonna affect your life. I sympathize with this guy since I kinda feel like people care more about the rivalry between political parties instead of actually trying to make a difference in the country. Not to mention people get VERY personal about politcs, I've lost friends because their political ideologies got in the way of our friendship.

"I don't care for politics" just means you don't know much about politics and find it too overwhelming to get into. You do care for politics as it has a direct effect on your life whether you like it or not.

You seem to care for politics based on what you've said. You should consider voting for a non-partisan candidate, any one of them. If enough people did that, then we'd possibly see a change in, at least, the current deadlock.

There's alot of truth to what you're saying, however just because the candidate that wins doesn't affect YOU doesn't mean it doesn't matter. If you want to be informed on the candidates pay attention to the outcomes of their policies and what they're saying. Right now we've got one status quo candidate, and another that for 9 years has been stirring up fears against a particular ethnic group, calling them grapists and animals and savages, saying "Theres alot of bad genes in this country" and "I believe a murderer, its all about genetics" and "America is for americans and americans only" you know, eugenics type sh*t. And you need the consent of the population in order to pull that kind of thing off, Hitler was in power for 6-7 years before the first Jew died. And Trump has that consent now, even after trying to overthrow an election, he has a strong base of people who are more afraid of immigrants that what could happen to our constitution. My friend of 12 years told me a couple months ago that while he loved how happy my wife and her family make me, we should have never met and they shouldn't be here. The best man at my wedding said this to me. So if Trump were to win and my family gets locked in a cage while they're waiting for deportation along with 13 million other people, when they literally do nothing wrong and contribute $98 billion in taxes each year without recieving the benefits of the tax system, are you gonna come back and tell me that it doesn't matter who wins it won't affect me??

just remember, your vote never matters. its all predecided by the electoral college and your "vote" is more of a suggestion. everyone in the US could vote trump, and if the EC is biased or payed off, kamala could still win even if donald trump wins the popular vote with 300k votes and kamala lost with 0 popular votes, if the majority of the EC sided with kamala, she'd win.
