About a year ago, I was diagnosed with a cancer of the nasal cavity (stage 2). The tumor was quite large. To get it removed, I first had to undergo agressive chemotherapy to make it smaller. Thanks to the chemo, I had severe alopecia (hair loss), which made most of my hair and even eyebrows and eyelashes fall out. At some point I had to go bald, but I wore a wig, because I didn't want to look like that.

my brother used to be like that (thankfully, he outgrows that phase). the only way to deal with this kind of people on important matters is to set your foot down, in a polite but irremovable way. No, you can't have my venue, but if you wish I may help you find another location. No? Too bad. For you, I mean. You still can't have my venue, and you're welcome to ban me from the wedding. I'll also considered myself excused from the wedding gift. Oh, and you're also welcome to skip my wedding (at the venue I didn't hand down to you) and gift as well, along with all the other family members that wish to back you up with this nonsense. Please don't bother pressuring further, my stand won't change. End of story.

@@nimeryaspawnbrd1049 okay! Usually me and my sister are a lot harder with each other because if my sister puts her foot down, so will I. We will literally be at each other’s throats- pretty badly-. But I’m so happy that your brother grew out of this! I hope to never have a situation like this, but if I ever do, I’ll defiantly keep this in mind. I am not the most polite- as you can say- when it comes to people taking the things I love the most or have worked hard for. But I’ll keep this in mind for the future!

I got married last year after two years of pandemic nightmare planning, the fact that anyone stood by the sister as if she was in the right is literally shocking. Wedding planning is hard, there is so much to think about and consider, so much stress to deal with, and to just expect someone to handover the fruit of their labour, your own sister's even, is beyond childish, selfish, entitled and spoiled. Oof I'm seething.

gosh, her family is so manipulating and gaslighting, I could tell by the way they talked: "you betrayed us" "you don't love us" "don't be selfish" "she's your sister" "she needs it more than you" all of these comments have one thing in common: they are statements, not reasons, they do not serve as logical arguments and are simply just baseless words thrown out there to confuse, ridicule and pressure the recipient. a decent, logical human being would say "I think (this) and (this), because of (clear reason and evidence)" yet none of this is present in their words, they are just throwing insults around as without actually giving evidence supporting their opinions, the reason for this is clear. they simply just don't have any justifications. when presented with rock solid evidence and examples of past occurrences, they will: 1)Deny it/straight up lie if audacious enough 2)Twist your words or the situation to confuse you 3)This one I find particularly difficult to deal with: reply with something that is relatively incoherent and nonsensical, it sounds like they are attempting to state a reason of sorts but it vaguely makes any sense. This one usually leaves the you completely baffled and speechless and its sucks like hell to experience. 4) Respond with another groundless statement that does literally nothing to support their claims, e.g. ("you ruined my graduation last year, all my life I've been catering to your will" response: "wow you don't care about me at all huh?") I hope she stays away from those horrible toxic "parents" of hers and their awful spawn.

I think the best part is when their dad says "it's not about the venue, but the person you are marrying" in an attempt to try to justify this insanity. It's so amazing someone can actually make this statement and doesn't stop themselves by realizing what a hypocrite they are saying that. The extreme lack of self awareness he must have that it does not occur to him that if he actually believed in that statement, maybe he should be saying it to the younger sister instead.

My step dad tried to get full custody, but the courts wouldn't allow it (joint custody). My step brother took his life a few years back and we all blame her. His death didn't stop her going out with her friends for a new years celebration 2 days after his death, or stop her from taking his money, selling all his stuff and renting his bedroom out.

Story #2: The older sis getting pregnant before marriage and being irresponsible (while also being incredibly entitled) isn't the younger sister's fault...and shame on the family for guilting her over it. For the second story, in my personal point of view is that the sister knew what would happen when she laid in bed with her boyfriend, even with protection you have to completely be prepared for the chance of you getting pregnant and having a baby. Just because the sister so happens to get pregnant doesn't mean she tries to steal a wedding from someone else. If having a wedding or planning one would be too difficult she can hire a wedding planner or put the wedding on hold until after the baby is born and they have the money to pay for the wedding. I feel like the sister did that because she would have a higher chance of op saying yes by putting them in the spot light and in a place where if they said no, it would leave an awkward situation. The way the nan and mother reacted is in my personal opinion annoying. A wedding is a big deal, let alone it being planned three years in advanced and most likely being married themselves. They should have never expected op to say yes along with accepting the fact that if someone isn't willing to give something away that they should be adults and not act like kids who were told they couldn't have something. Now yes I do feel bad for the sister, having a baby can be really stressful but she can hire planners to do all the worrying for her, she even has the mother and the nan to help with planning the wedding. This is not anywhere close to unfair, op planned 3 years ahead of time meanwhile her sister most likely didn't plan much and she ended up getting pregnant. There is also the fact that the sister blames op for potentially ruining her marriage but she did that all by herself after asking that question even after being told NOT to.

Tbh I really hate those kinds of people who thinks they have full control over who sits where on the bus, a year ago I was taking the bus home from school ( and it was packed because there were a lot of school kids ) and basically this lady just came in with a baby so people got up for her and moved so she could sit ( which is fine ), but even when everyone was helping her she started going on about how all the kids should be standing and how the adults should be the ones sitting down. As if they deserved it anymore than we did? What’s worse is people were complying with what she said and started standing.

The second one is a classic example of a narcissistic family. I would have told my sister that if she cared so much about _her_ wedding she would have waited *until* she was married before getting knocked up. I've been planning my dream wedding for three years, and you have *NO RIGHT* to try and take that from me! If the sister was pregnant, I would tell the fiancee to break off the engagement and fight for full custody of the child, especially after the sister blamed the OP for "ruining her marriage" when they only got into an argument over the fact that the sister went back on the agreement and tried to go behind her fiancee's back like that. That way, the fiancee can find someone better who isn't toxic and not have to worry about being stuck with child support. Hell, I would be petty enough to slap a restraining order in top of it all once I had full custody of the child so that the family couldn't try to turn the child against me, either. Before any of you get mad, I come from an extremely toxic family and have been cut off from them. Because people are so insane, it's better to be safe than sorry, and my husband and I have multiple plans in mind in case my family ever tries to come back and make our lives hell again, especially if I get pregnant and get to have the baby after three miscarriages.

With the first story. I am a kid, 13 years old, and my legs work perfectly fine. To the point in which I can and have hiked and backpacked some of the hardest hikes on the east coast of the United States. If someone can't stand easily, like if they have cancer or another condition, or even something like old age, I can 100% give up a seat (or not take theirs) without any issues. I try to understand the pain of having cancer seeing as my family has struggled with it in the past, however it's not something that is really easy to understand or to relate to. I give my deepest condolences to anyone and their family that struggles with this heart wrenching condition, or any other like it. Have a great day and thank you for reading my comment.

I'm dealing with a sister that's somewhat like this. She's helped me a lot during the years financially and I've done a lot of manual labor for her. When she did help me it always had to be on her terms. If it was for something she didn't think I should do or buy she didn't help no matter what it was. She continually throws up in my face what she's done for me. She married a man twenty nine years ago that not only made extremely good money but came from a family that had money. She hasn't had to work since they married. She's always been controlling but it increased tenfold after she married. After our dad passed she took control over our mother. Our mother had to go to an assisted living facility the being of 2017 and passed in the middle of 2019. Our mom asked me before she passed why didn't I move into her house. She said no one is there and your paying rent. I told her maybe I would. I offered to buy my sister out when our mom passed but she said no. Now she's wanting to buy me out except for one acre and rent our family home. She said I could keep an eye on the renters to make sure they're doing what they're suppose to do. The house I'm living in is going up for sale soon so I've got to move. She's still refusing to let me move in even though we own everything equally. She said if I moved in anyway I'd lose her and her family. She'd never speak to me again nor would her family. Apparently she controls them as well. With all this being said, would I be a jerk if I did go ahead and move in?

This hit so close to home, especially now for me. I didn’t exactly go through the same thing, but I did have a mother who had a form of narcissistic traits even though it wasn’t stated her sister had these. A person you TRUST ends up betraying you in the most personal way possible and essentially kills a part of ur reputation with the others you love. Pulling the “because I thought u loved me…” or “because we’re family…” is NEVER okay. The fact that her Nan told her she was being selfish really stuck with me. After my mom hit me and I was at my grandma’s, she told me to say sorry to her even though she did something like that. “She was just stressed.” Even my dad was asking why I screamed. It’s terrible. Dealing with the aftermath and standing up for yourself can make you feel alienated from the ones you trusted the most. Even now, my family is still trying to justify my mom’s actions. It can make you feel so lonely and I’m truly happy that she stood up to her sister and had support from her fiancé (at the time). Family really doesn’t have to be blood related. Family is supposed to consist of the people you love and trust the most.

So WOW! Sounds like my sister. My parents enabled her for 43 years. Best thing she ever did was to die, sorry to have to say. I never had a relationship with my parents until she died and they noticed they had another child. I was 40 by then and not really interested in getting to know them. They borrowed money, stole from me, lied to me, and took my home and property that my stepfather had cosigned with me for. They gave it all to my sister so she (and her husband) didn't have to work or quit doing drugs. I've been blackmailed and guilted by them all my life to better my sister. All I got out of this was to rescue my sisters son from her and raise him as my own son. Before you ask, yes, he was born addicted to meth and has multiple issues related to it. He's eight years old now and doing an awesome job of rising above his beginnings! Prayer DOES work. As a side note, my parents believe they have done the right thing by all their children and don't understand my attitude.

I was 55 years old before I realised that my own family were dysfunctional. I knew my dad told lies about me, that was the easy bit but much more damaging than the violence he inflicted on me before I turned 19. My younger sister was vulnerable and he controlled her to the point where she lost 2 valuable properties because he told her not to pay her debts. On the last occasion , I listened to him telling her not to pay the money. It was only £350 , but meant that all the goodwill that I had managed to build between the parties was lost. I could not believe what I was hearing, My eldest sister was is txt book narcissist and has no problem looking me in the eye and telling me bare faced lies.., I now believe that narcissism is hereditary, I know my extended family very well and our family is littered with angry narcissists mosty widowed or divorced. And of course I married a Narcissist but odd as it may seem , this is normal for someone like me. I an way on the wrong side of 70 and happy in my skin . I just don't bother trying to understand, I stay away out of the road, I hot divorced in 2003 and 2 years later met soulmate and married her. Life is good but my 2 daughters follow the tradition and there is absolutely nothing I can do about it, best of all, I don't even try. I just get on with life and stay out of firing range. None of these females ever use the word sorry.. That is the crazy thing about all this.. There is no cure. Just get out while you can. It took me long enough.

I was a cancer patient for two years. It wasn’t always like this, but there were some parts of my treatment that seriously impacted my physical endurance to the point where I could barely make it from the car to the hospital waiting room. A couple times, I had to borrow a wheelchair from the clinic. It was rough. I was lucky enough to have my parents to drive me to and from treatments, but I can’t imagine going through what OP did. Not to mention the increased risk of infection that comes with being on a crowded bus. If someone had gotten in my face like that, I definitely would not have been as calm about it as they were. For the part of my treatment where I was able to attend college, I had to physically restrain myself every time I was near someone who wasn’t wearing their mask properly. I’m sure the pandemic didn’t help - I just got done with treatment three weeks ago - but still.

Been addicted to these stories, but this is the first one I finally sat there and actually got really upset by it. My best friend was the victim of a near identical story, to the OP of the story in this video. So, I have very close experience to what it felt like. The main difference between my best friend's wedding, and the OP's wedding, is that his wedding was booked 17 months in advance, and his own BROTHER tried to ask for the venue (for free, mind you, I won't get into what it cost), because his fiance (who was expecting triplets) and him needed it more, especially considering they both own a business and just don't have the time for planning their own. Yeah, sounds familiar right? Best friend and his brother are no longer on speaking terms (and haven't been for 11 years), and the fiance left best friend's brother, but still gave birth to the triplets, and has been an integrated part of our friend group for just about as long, and is one of the most lovely people I've ever known.

I was on the water soon at morning, my mom was buying things for playing, I was only with my dad, who was outside the water. A kid of around 7-8 years was just playing near to him, and suddenly, the umbrella flew away into it. His family was just on my dad's left, and his grandpa came in the situation and started saying: -What the hell are you doing you stupid grandpa?! (Him was older than my dad) Do you come from Toledo or what?! (Not sure if that was what he said, I wasn't able to listen because I was far away, my dad told it) And then, I came at speed of light when I realised, but it was too late for asking. The kid had a lot of sand on its eyes, and what I listened actually was him crying out. My dad excused a lot and grabbed the broken umbrella, and left it on his side. I asked a million times about what happened, but he said me ''nothing'' or barely told me anything. I had to force him (not on the literal meaning) to explain me. Like 15 minutes later, the grandpa came again, with a visible face of being regretted. He said aldo sorry because of going loud about what happened, and told him a tool to attach the umbrella better into the sand. My mom came back with the toys and we told her about it, and again went to the shop for an umbrella. That's all I remember about the story, I'll edit this if I remember. Thanks for paying attention to whoever you are listening.

Yeah I've had to take the bus home after a surgery, was the worst experience ever. Had to be on twice the amount of anesthesia because they thought I wasn't out before the surgery so when I woke up I was really bad off. I could barely walk but somehow managed to get on the bus. Was lucky enough to find a seat. Had two women on the ride home come stand next to me, one with a kid and one without just staring at me and tisking (that noise made with their mouth out of disapproval) because I didn't give up the seat to them. Some people think the world revolves around them.

you did exactly what you think is right, you planned the venue for 3 years, family are not meant to take from each other, there meant to share with each other, you didn't have to give the venue if you didn't want to and she shouldn't be asking for things if she doesn't give back. This honestly sounded as if you were in the right this whole time and you were basically were.

the sister was the jerk because she wanted to TAKE something from someone who had been planning something for 3 YEARS and was told to wait another 3 MONTHS. That is just messed up. And the parents are just very biased toward the sister. And also, the sister always got what she wanted, and she would throw a tantrum for EVERYTHING, whether she didn't get presents on her sister's birthday, to FORCING her OWN SISTER to fill out job applications for HER.

For the second story I think it’s unfair for the pregnant sister to want the venue when the narrator has been waiting literal years and has had it planned for a long time. Being pregnant doesn’t mean that everyone needs to give you everything :/

I gotta tell you, I go out a lot and I have never seen anything like this happen. I live Massachusetts and people are genuinely nice people. My apologies to you for what she did. She had no right and I truely hope she learns something from this.
