The left one is a natural ruby. The right one is synthetic. They both fluores, but the fake ones glow brighter.

or it might be garnet…I got a cross from a pawn shop cheap because they thought it was garnet (a little light) but it was a ruby. Best for all to get a gemologist to help you out……

I used to have a ruby ring, 18k gold. Sold it long time ago, but it was a nice one.
