I was like "eff this game" 😂I didnt play the epilogue then, I just moved onto another game cause I didnt wanna play as John. Since 2020, I replayed chapters 2-4. But I recently restarted the whole game, and I JUST beat the epilogue for the first time last month, because I played the recent re-release of RDR1 and needed to connect the dots. Definitely play the epilogue - especially if you plan on playing RDR1 (if you didnt yet, I'm new here).
