Hi everyone, thank you for your interest and positive comments, keep them coming! Lucifer was on antibiotics for nearly two weeks prior to the procedure as I prepared for this. Injectable lidocaine numbs things so there is less discomfort for the little guy. There were many edits to shorten this long procedure. A great deal of material came out without much bleeding. It did not appear as an active infection. At the end i flushed the cyst pockets many times 7-9 roughly to get all material out. I kept flushing until there was no more material and I felt like I had ruptured all of the pockets and emptied. I don’t wear gloves as I need to carefully feel the nature of the cysts and it helps without the gloves. My hands are previously cleaned with alcohol and chlorohexodine and iodine solution. Once this has been done gloves offer no advantage but protect me from material and exposure which I don’t care about. Gloves may make you look pro but designed to preserve your hands from caustic anti bacterial scrubbing. Lucifer is on gentomycin anti biotics. 5mg/kg initial loading dose the 1/2 dose IM EVERY 72 hours 7 treatments roughly. It may take days for an immune response and I like to make sure the animal is strong enough to rally its immunity after I do something invasive like this. Thank you all. Kevin

You are so amazing with these animals Kevin ❤ I have been completely infatuated with reptiles and amphibians since I can remember. In grade 3 we had to draw a photo of what we wanted to be when we grew up...I literally drew a photo of myself with a huge snake head behind me and wrote the word "herpetologist!" The love and care you show the animals is truly heartfelt and inspiring! You get to know these beautiful serpents on such a profound level that they trust you whole heartedly!! Don't worry about what people on line are saying about Lilith or any of the other asshple comments they spew out!! I'd like to see any one of them in a room with a cobra...let alone trying to save one's life!! Your a beautiful human for what you do and you do it so well!! Your team is also absolutely amazing!! Aren't these mad dangerous? I wouldn't mind keeping a big cat like a leopard. People hate on it but cats are very high order animals. Probably higher order than humans. I would say my cat is smarter than most humans. So they don't mistake you for food ever. This snake on the other hand is trying to bite everything. I heard you can die even with anti-venom if it bites you. In Australia I have to forage for mushrooms and all the snakes are venomous but it's winter so they don't want to waste energy biting you. Thought I'd add that in.

@@jhowardsupporter The venom of this snake is very potent and dangerous, but Kevin and his team are excellent handlers, and very aware of the risks. If you watch the video closely, you'll see the person who is helping Kevin hold Lucifer is monitoring him so closely, and helping to hold Lucifer gently bur firmly so he cannot bite. I'm sure that NERF keeps antivenom for their venomous snakes as well, and are willing to take the risks in order to try to save Lucifer. That infection would have killed him without intervention, and not many vets are willing to handle venomous snakes- understandably. Kevin knows what he is doing! Please don't get a big cat. Big cats like leopards do not belong in captivity. Unless it's a proper reserve with the space and environment they need, and it's being used to protect and breed these wonderful animals that are at risk of extinction due to habitat loss and humans destroying them. They are not a pet, and should never be confined and treated like a pet dog or cat. Oh, and they certainly can "mistake you for food"! There have been plenty of people killed by captive big cats, even ones they've raised from a cub. They're intelligent predators that should be living in the wild. You cannot give a leopard the kind of environment it needs to thrive, and people "hate on it" because it's cruel to keep a beautiful, intelligent, wild animal like a big cat in a cage.
@amandastakeonit7402
@amandastakeonit7402 2 жыл бұрын
@@jhowardsupporter, Yes they are venomous/deadly. He has experience handling them just like some of those in Australian Zoos do (I know you can't have them in the general public) cats, even big cats are intelligent, but make no mistake, you are NOT safe with them. They are definitely not higher animals than people, if for no other points but that we have opposable thumbs (which is not single to us but is a distinct advantage) and an ability to rationalize and reason. We can make and use tools in the extreme! No other animal can do anything but what our babies/toddlers can do, along those lines. Now, I speak of people in general, I cannot speak for you or other individuals but as BRILLIANT as cats are (leaps and bounds above k9s), or even King Cobras, seemingly more intelligent than any other snake species, they do not come close to my intelligence nor that of most human beings. When it comes to Clint or Kevin, in most things, animal things for sure, I yield to them, they know their stuff. Definitely be careful looking for mushrooms, because snakes brumate not hibernate, they are not asleep the whole time, they are just slower and would rather be left alone. You (potentially) face the most venomous snakes there. Your experience thus far teaches you what to look for and what your caution level should be in whichever are, and that works until something goes amiss, the same goes with handling the King Cobras their experience and knowledge tells them their threat level, they know that that only works until something goes amiss, they try to be alert for signals/body language given off by the snakes.

Oh, Ive had abcesses that were only a couple mm in diameter that felt like the skin was being pried open by red hot metal prongs. I can't even fathom what THAT would feel like. I know snakes dont feel pain as much as higher mammels, but just from the sheer size it had to be awful. I mean if a 2 mm abcess with maybe like 1/10th of a ml of fluid exerts uncomfortable amounts of pressure on the skin of a 1.9 m, 100ish KG human...

@@shadowjewel, the snake being high? Local anesthetics don't work that way. They only dull pain in the area. With most reptiles (possibly all but I cannot speak for all) should never be put under aka be anesthetized because they don't come out of it a lot of the time, other times if they do survive they come out of it permanently altered. As far as an ability to be made high, I am not sure they can be, they don't have the same types of brains other animals have, so there's no where for it to take place.

I tried to go back and check what he said about the once he used but when I tried I couldn't, though I struggle to watch procedures like this so I may have been jumping around it or maybe I just imagined it in the first place, I don't know. As for their capacity to get high, don't underestimate animal brains. Reptiles can and do feel emotion, think, and can even get drunk. All the mechanisms and technicalities may not be identical, but I don't see why they couldn't get high too.

I know not everyone appreciates the care videos, but I think they are important. Most of us wouldn’t know where to begin with treatment of a sick reptile. The most I’ve ever done is mite treatments, tick removals, and tetracycline treatments for URIs. Most of the animals I’ve kept over the years were temporary “pets”. Catch, treat, and release. I have had some long term pets purchased from breeders (Canadian Red-Sided Garter, Florida Blue Striped Garter, and a melanistic Eastern Hognose). The hognose only lasted two years, but was purchased as an adult. The garter snakes I had for years and years (10 for the Canadian and 6 for the Florida). Tried to breed them a couple of times, but I wasn’t ever successful. No reptiles currently, but I’ve kept many over the years. I was planning on going to school to become a herpetologist, but, at the time (late 80s), all of the schools were in the Midwest and I didn’t feel like traveling that far away from family and friends. I’ll get back into to it (probably when I retire and can have more space), the wife has a fear of snakes so would need a separate building. When we lived in Florida a few years back, the kids would ask me to grab some of the Brown Anoles (she didn’t mind them as much because they blink) and they’d keep them until they got big and aggressive. Most of the time the larger ones (not even just the ones we would let loose) would get picked off by birds or snakes. FWC would encourage culling them as they are highly invasive, but they’re too cute bobbing their heads constantly. In areas where the wildlife is not invasive, I would not encourage the “catch, keep, grow, release” practice. I knew I would most likely be feeding indigenous wildlife with these prolific lizards, so I didn’t see any harm. That, and they’re already everywhere without my intervention. Anyway, great video and keep them coming.

wow.I am blown away at watching snake E.R.. You guys are really incredible. I realized I needed to learn more about snakes because I came across a baby diamondback a couple days ago on my drilling rig in Midland TX, and out of fear for the people nearby and the houses nearby, I killed it. I really regret doing that and want to learn to relocate them safely. We do find them on the rigs and of course the rigs actually attract animals because of the water, heat, and vibrations it makes. Having a deadly species near us keeps us on edge, and right near town. I realized it was just a baby trying to do its thing, and what I did was wrong, and not the best I can be towards animals by simply reacting out of fear. I need to learn to safely handle them, because for certain other people won't.

@@birbdad1842, most vets wouldn't even take a look, it's a King Cobra, their antivenin isn't readily available so sadly, euthanizing your animal or letting it suffer 'til death would be most people's options so I think David is correct about that. No one would want to give up but reality is what it is.

Incredible amount of knowledge. Lilith and Lucifer are both lucky to be owned by u. 👏🌟❤

I've just realised I may have done u a disservice Kevin. I don't know if ur qualified or not to do all the procedures u do but u blow my mind. I know there are very few vets around that would handle a cobra like that let alone cut into it and mess around with it whilst it's awake. The snake clearly understands u mean it no harm though else it surely wouldn't be so calm. So much respect for u Kevin, is it any wonder so many of ur peers look up to u. ❤
