Instead of trying to outscore them, we ran the offense thru Mitchell. I mean typical Cal BS. Gets them playing great before the tourney. In the SECT changes everything back to his usual BS because he gets tight and can’t let them do what they do great. No adjustments will be made either in game. 35 games into the year and we still didn’t guard ball screen correctly, Didn’t know how to properly switch, played way too far off guards so we were always out of position to be driven right by. Didn’t go get a legit post player, just had 3 raw 7 footers who weighed 200 pounds. Even with all those problems a simple zone and half decent coaching gets that team into the elite 8 or final 4.

Calipari coached Kentucky to four Final Fours, in 2011, 2012, 2014 and 2015. Imagine what kind of success Calipari would have had if he could have kept most of those players for multiple years but he was all about priming his star freshmen players for the NBA. The talent he coached at Kentucky was second to none with his players becoming some of the top NBA players such as Anthony Davis, John Wall, Marcus Cousins, Michael Kidd Gilchrist, Shai Gilgeous Alexander, Karl Anthony Towns, Devin Booker, Jamal Murray, De'AAaron Fox, Brandon Knight, Tyrese Maxey, Nick Richards, PJ Washington, Tyler Herro, Bam Adebayo, Julius Randle, Terrence Jones and more. Even with all the one and done's Kentucky should have won 4 or 5 Titles instead of just one. Except for the 2019 season in which Kentucky lost in the elite 8 to Auburn in overtime. The last 4 out of 5 years at Kentucky for Calipari were not acceptable for UK fans with poor showings in the NCAA tournament losing twice to Kansas State and especially after the two totally embarrassing losses in the first round of The NCAA tournament to mid major schools St. Peters in Overtime in 2022 and losing to Oakland last season that have somewhat tarnished Calipari's great record. As of April 2024, with 856 official wins, Calipari ranks 9th on the NCAA Division I all-time winningest coaches list.

This is something people need to know and remember the reason John Calipari was able to put out so many high-quality NBA guys was because it was Kentucky. At Kentucky those high-quality guys went through a fire. There was a pressure and a lot of heat from the fans from the media from everything. This either made a you into a diamond or broke you. The guys that got it, went to the NBA, sometimes it took a couple years. The guys that didn’t get it, transferred and then kind of bounced around the G league or overseas, a few have succeeded. That fire and pressure they got at Kentucky Molded them. So by the time they got to the NBA was easier. They’re not gonna get that fan pressure at Arkansas.

It’s the same old same old, except this year Reed and Rob aren’t on the bench to come in and hit clutch 3 after clutch 3, maybe Boogie can do, but all I’ve heard is what a non-shooter Boogie is. I’m not hating on Cal or his team, I think he should’ve stuck to his guns and retired at KY after this year if he underperformed and then go to the NBA like he wants, that’s where his heart is. How another school could hire Cal and expected anything different blows my mind, he wrote a book on his opinion of the game, getting kids into the NBA is all that matters to him, not the school, not winning the SEC championship, and not winning in the tournament. All that’s a bonus if it happens but as long as he can use a schools money to make NBA players that’s what he’s gonna do, go read his words.

Cal wanted to stay at UK. He tried to strong arm Barnhart and failed, then agreed to make the changes we We’re demanding and we said no. We also said no you can’t hide Brad. Cal thought he had control and didn’t. It had been too long since he won. His ego was out of control. And now he coaches the Ozark Armadillos in the sticks. He’s miserable and nobody cares now. His ego can’t take empty arenas and no press. I give it less than 3 years. He’s just gonna collect checks and try and leave the team to Brad. He’ll tell Arkansas he’ll stay on and recruit and Brad will coach. If they do it theyll never recover. Kentucky is too big to fail but Arkansas isn’t.

Watched the game as a former Cats fan to see if Cal was still Cal. His team couldn't shoot the three. Couldn't defend the three. Baylor just can't shoot, but their looks were WIDE open. Cannot stop straight line drives to the basket costing them at least 30 points. Can't defend the pick and roll. Out rebounding by a smaller team. NO player development. DJ and Z looked the same if not worse. I tried to warn all the gloating Arkansas fans what they were in for. They'll see. it doesn't get better as the season goes along. Neither one of these teams deserves a top 25 ranking.

Calipari hasn't ever been able to really adapt to the game. Hell he almost lost to Kansas with Anthony Davis the year we won the championship. Had it not been for that team being stacked and having the motors they had we wouldn't have had that championship. He can have a player having a great game and will bench him and seemingly forget about them.

I don't know why people are blaming Cal for the Baylor loss, not least of all because lest we forget Baylor is the favored and higher ranked team. Don't also forget the game was headed to a blowout at half but Cal's adjustments made it competitive again. His players were getting shots and just straight up laying bricks, that's not coaching. And Big Z doing what he always did, standing around looking at the audience and getting blown by then crying to refs, he's from the euro/Luka school of defense. The real question for the change Cal crowd is why would he. You want some analytics 3 point offense when none of his players are hitting shots. And yeah it was fun to watch Reed shoot... until it wasn't and he choked in the first round and the entire nation dog walked Cal right out of his job for it. After that nightmare and this night full of bricks you think you would have switched to shooting all 3s if you had been in his shoes? No you wouldn't.

Its early in the year..and Cal's trams never look great early, tbh, especially in the later years. Reason being is that these kids dont really know how to play with other guys because they dont have to before getting to Kentucky, on the whole. We see he has a freshman pg, and it takes time for those guys to learn how to play college basketball. They haven't had a full complement of players to practice with, according to him, and they flat out didn't work on zone. All that being said, they lost by what..5? By the end of the season, Arkansas will be one of the teams no one wants to face. These stooges will be on his ballsack by season's end.

I've said from the start that it will implode at ARK....he's the same coach, same shit x's and o's. The ONLY reason KY's offense was good last season was because of John Welch. Welch is now at Fresno St so Cal has reverted to his archaic dribble drive and with lesser talent. They can't shoot. The honeymoon won't last long.

BS - Why don’t you pay attention to Johnell Davis’ past seasons’ point production? Like many players, he is a slow starter with his shot…and VERY inconsistent throughout each season. Even as the major producer of points for an FAU team and three seasons playing with the same roster, Davis had to work into a rhythm. Look at the transition of production once he gets into game 5 and afterwards (26-points vs A&M but only 2-points vs Liberty?). And look up his game by game 3-point production, it is a late season phenomenon for him. But, last yeah he had 5-games of 30-point production…and (I lost count) about as many games with 10 or less points per game. So, he is going to always be an ebb and flow producer. My point? There are going to be games where he is a dead ringer, but he will not be this player in every game…never was. PLUS, there is more to his current wrist injury than is being reported. Several times in the game against Baylor you could noticeably see him wince when releasing his shot. First 15 games from last year at FAU Loyola - 12-points E. Mich - 19-points Bryant - 17-points Butler - 15-points Texas A&M - 26-points Va Tech - 12-points Liberty - 2-points Charleston - 24-points Illinois - 19-points FIU - 16-points St Bonaventure - 16-points Arizona - 35-POINTS FGCU - 17-points East Carolina - 20-points Charlotte - 20-points Later on he would produce 30+ points in 4 more contests, another game with 28-points and another with 24-points…and another with 6-points. See a lack of a pattern here?
