I’m actually happy about the repeats. Even though I’m a massive fan of Spider-Man, I have skipped out on every Spider-Man set in the last few years because even though I wanted the figures, the price and builds were not appealing to me. So this is the perfect set for me, build wise and minifigure wise.

I think you overlooked one very good explanation from the designer as to why there's a lack of desired prints. It isn't Lego being cheap, it has to do with how many open storage slots they have. Every time they create a new print, it takes one or two slots, and given that there are a limited number of slots opened up each year, they have to pick and choose which characters get new prints and how many parts can get printed that will meet the storage quota.

My dad and I are really keen on this set. He’s a huge fan of Daredevil and Spider-Man, and ready all the comics in the 60’s and 70’s. I’ve been a spidey fan for as long as I’ve had sentience , and grew up with the 90’s Spider-Man tv show and the Raimi movies, so for both of us, this set is a must buy!

Not gonna lie, as someone who finds the builds for the spiderman sets pretty lackluster and didn't buy any of them I'm pretty happy that lots of the minifigures were reused in the bugle because I was unlikely to get them otherwise.However, I also agree that it would have been nice to have some more exclusive minifigures and the reused minifigures are kind of a slap in the face to people who bought all the other spiderman sets. Anyways awesome video; keep up the great work.

i know some people don't like this set because it's grey and bland, but for a massive comic fan like me, it's perfect. it's cool, accurate, and had soooo many awesome Easter eggs and references, not to mention the iconic characters that are appearing for the first time ever. i get that some people are annoyed about leg printing, but most of the characters don't even need it and if they did have it, it would just add to the set price and i think £275 is enough. lego only has a certain amount of printing they can use per year and if i were them, i wouldn't waste it on a bunch of characters that aren't in desperate need of it.

Tommy you also have to realize lego can’t always give every lego minifigure leg printing because lego has to save room while making characters. They also have so many other lego lines to take care of and other figures to make. They aren’t saving pennies they are trying to balance all their lines. Complaining about the new exclusive characters isn’t really fair because we are just lucky to even have daredevil, punisher, and black cat eccpecially because they are more 18+ characters and so ofc they aren’t going to be the most detailed as they are being made for the first time

I completely understand your view. I see every part of where you are coming from, and even I agree with what you are saying. However, alot of the figures are figures even I don't have. Either variants or not, alot of these figures I don't have. That is one standout feature for me personally, secondly, the set also stands out to me as I love posing and displaying models just as much as playing with. I would love to combine other figures and sets (Im looking at you bridge battle set) to make a ultimate spidey display.Personally it ticks all my boxes, but i still understand your view and completely support you.

Imagine...You're a Lego-based content provider. And in LAN. Lego sends you - free - this set (£275 UK) to 'review'. Do you point out the problems or just be a hyperventilating fanboy drone, who always thinks everything Lego is perfect? Paid advertising, though, so what can you do? Well, the alternative is to slam and hate on sets because you didn't get it free via LAN. Is that better/ fairer? I mean, as you've never seen it, built it or owned it? I do own it. The build (so far: I only purchased this Wednesday and I want to stretch out the experience) has been great: the most technical, elaborate, ingenious and enjoyable set I've ever touched. You're wrong about the gray parts and windows though -when you open up and the bags tumble out, it's actually kinda shocking how diverse the bags, and how well the booklet staggers build experience from bag-to-bag. And you've glossed the extraneous builds too. Taxi. Sandman's absolutely perfectly executed concrete/sand explosion. Newsstands. Rooms. The bins. The damn flowers. And the minifigures. There are 25 here. Every single one makes sense. Do I have some or think other minifigures (my preference) would make it better? Of course, but we don't get to chose: we decide or judge by what's there. And basically, this summer, the Lego Marvel option is (a) this set or (b) The MCU Infinity Saga sets - with hmmm, one new figure? Does a different hairpiece on Thor or a shield with Iron Man or a Stane head really make the 2021 minifigures (and builds) 'new'? Not to me, and everything has been done to death: Mech/Buster Armour, Avengers Compounds, GotG Spaceship.

I feel like it’s a decent deal if you’re interested in modulars (I’m super happy there’s finally a plain skyscraper, could’ve been even more plain for my taste) and if you own no Marvel sets like me. This set pretty much provides a ton of fun minifigures without having to buy all the small childish sets. And yeah, they could’ve had way more printing on the minifigs, and this is a problem with many other themes as well. I don’t personally mind it, but I understand that it could be a dealbreaker for some people.

I'm just not sure what else they could do. It's a skyscraper, which most of the time doesn't have a drastically different looking floors on the outside. I think they did the best they could, with each floor interior being different. To each their own, but I think this is an amazing set with a lot of variety considering the fact that it's a normal looking skyscraper.

I believe in the interview you cited that Mark said Marvel is actually the people who OK which figures go in which sets. So really instead of blaming LEGO Marvel would be the one to blame. I think Marvel said putting a comic MJ Watson in the set would alienate people from the MCU so that’s why she’s not in it.

MJ not being in it because of MCU reasons is crap this set is clearly based on the comics and MCU MJ is rumoured to have red hair for the next film (no way home) so I don't think its would have been jarring at all honestly don't know why lego thought this way if this is the case and I know its not marks fault I said in the video its legos and marvels and it sucks because you can tell mark wanted better for the set! :D

I watched this review before and after buying the set, and honestly I had questioned the price, but now owning it, I would have paid $100 more, its absolutely insane, the minifigures could have been better, but that's just because I would want more 2-3 more villain's, but that's not even really an issue since its going to be sooner or later that we get people like the lizard, electro, kingpin, chameleon, rhino. It's great, go buy it. This review has good criticism that doesn't apply if you're a normal person that doesn't buy every single Spiderman Lego set released in the past 3 years.

I saw your videos on the “do this to your daily bugle marathon “. I have to say. Building two daily bugles into one makes this set even worse. You don’t utilize any of the available spots for mini figures on the display. It’s all either at the bottom or the top or near the green goblin window. You can add a lot more life to your display by using the original set so it’s not obnoxiously huge, and you can use extra pieces to set more characters on the fire escape, also the white poles on one of the window walls is literally perfect for displaying up to 7 characters if you include Doc oc and his arms holding other characters. You should consider more detail in your builds, rather than just the size of your build. But just an opinion, some of us make money this way and others dont.

I LOVE the main build, it's great to finally get such a huge and nicely detailed city building like that from LEGO (other than the usual modular style, I really like the height and even how it doesn't use basically the entire baseplate, it makes it feel different), and I just love how it looks. and it's great that you can repair the window with the pieces in the set, you don't need any pieces from outside the set to fix it. The taxi is super amazing too, I love its design. And to be honest, I'm kind of happy about some of the re-used minifigures. So many Spider-Man sets from the 2020s so far are crappy Spider-Man/Venom mechs, helicopters, bikes, random pointless and ugly spider vehicles with the same exact color scheme and web stickers over and over, it's nice to have one giant building with all these figures I've been interested in but never got because I didn't want to buy 20 bulky blue and red spider vehicles to get them, but I definitely wish there was more leg/arm printing, and I wish the normal civilians had better/more unique outfits than the most generic LEGO City torsos. but hey, at least we get 5 entirely new characters

I love Spider-Man but I chose Ninjago City Gardens over this because I'm aware of the innacurate minifigures which are my favourite part of sets. Its a shame tho, such a good idea but they cheaped out on some of the minifigures and I cant really afford the spare parts to fix them

Before I bought this set I too was concerned that the building process would be too repetitive, but after having built it I enjoyed every second of it! While some sections were quite repetitive, the interiors were all unique and colorful, and really spiced up the building process for me. As far as the leg printing problem goes, it would have been nice to have leg printing on a greater number of the figures included in the set, but I think that having such a wide roster of characters makes up for that, and in my opinion most of the civilians and heroes included look just fine without and leg printing (though I do agree with what you said in the video about even just simple printing going a long way). All that being said though, this is without a doubt my favorite lego set of all time now, as I am a huge spider-man and Marvel fan, and the finished product is just a dream come true to have displayed inside my room! Once seen on display in person you get a feel for how massive this thing truly is! Not to mention a fantastic price to piece ratio, which is just a cherry on top!

Question, what if I’m only using this set for brickfilms (LEGO animations)? Also I agree that firestar, mysterio, doc ock, Spider Gwen, and Spider Ham should all have some specific printing or dual molded legs to make them look more detailed or make them entitled to the set in some way. I got the set and yes it was a little repetitive but I could honesty care less since I just wanted it done.

i built this set when i had covid about 3 weeks ago, and yes it is very repetitive with the window pieces, but i think the mini figs make up for that. the finished product is 100 percent worth the time building the tedious window pieces.

Nah I’m gonna be honest as much as I think the interiors are cool and all, I’d never buy it. I usually only buy lego these days if I can display it, and this is just this massively unwieldy slightly ugly grey skyscraper- which I guess is accurate, but not something I’m gonna spend hundreds of pounds on 😂 I’m more excited for more colourful things like that big Guardians of the Galaxy Benatar, or even the rainbow-minifig-pride set. Side-note tho, there are definitely some amazing minfigs in the set that I absolutely love, like Blade and Daredevil. Wish they’d come in a CMF series or something, but I get why they’re in an 18+ set.

I think the reasoning behind the lack of leg printing/interesting builds/new characters is that Lego is testing the waters for more Marvel DTC sets at this scale. If this set is successful, I'm sure they'll put more effort into figures included and the design of future DTC Marvel sets.

It is pretty annoying even if captain American not in the set he has the same problem I’m fine with no arm printing but have no leg printing is lazy

Personally I only own Spider-Man, Venom and Carnage so if I end up getting this set for Christmas not only an I getting a pretty good build but also 22 mini figures I haven’t gotten yet which I see as a plus
