Great insight from chael as always . It really makes you think that weight cutting in camp for some guys is too the point where they forget why they lose weight for fights. To my knowledge no mma fighter has ever been forced to wear boxing gloves in the cage yet when moving up weight class it seems lots of fighters are forgetting the benefits of boxing glove and weighted vest.

I totally agree that training consistently and staying near 'fight condition' all year long, will prevent a lot of 'wear and tear' from getting out of shape and back into shape repeatedly. Then, the training period for a fight will be focused primarily on fight strategy and technique as opposed to having to concentrate on cutting weight.
@firstnamelastname9444 Жыл бұрын
Man, longevity is tough. I competed in my sports of choice for years and I was always of the mentality that more is more. I put too much wear and tear on my body and now I’m not even 25 and while I train as much as possible, my body literally can’t take the training it used to. I have to be extremely careful when choosing my workouts. It sucks.

I never watched or knew anything about ufc fights until a few months ago when somehow I clicked on the khabib/McGregor fight. It literally brought chills down my spine. People who make the choice to fight for a living have the biggest hearts and no fear in my opinion. I can't imagine what it takes for someone to willingly get into a cage knowing they could possibly walk away with a different face and outlook. These guys are literally trying to kill each other. I can't believe someone can't be punched in the nose to the point of it breaking and then having to endure more punches to the broken nose. I give these fighters so much respect cuz u have to be built different and be on a totally different level to make this a career. During that khabib/McGregor fight I couldn't decide who I was more impressed by?? Khabib for his technique and power or McGregor for being able to get his face and head smashed in for almost 2 rounds and still was able to get up and continue the fight. I've tried watching other fights but I'm on edge the entire time and can't get passed round 1 after what I saw in the khabib/McGregor fight. But I'm fascinated by the will power and heart all of these people have. This shit is brutal
