LOL that starbucks thing isn't even news. When I went on my trip to NY for my theatre degree, we were briefed on basic things you needed to know to survive in NYC. Things like what subway lines go which direction, how the streets were numbered, general safety guidelines, and OH! where you can use the bathroom without buying anything; McDonald's and Starbucks. I'm pretty sure the only time someone wasn't allowed to use the bathroom at starbucks was recently with the two men getting arrested for literally no reason.

Actually, most starbucks employees will tell you that this was always their policy, but it was just never actually written in the policies. Starbucks supposedly was always supposed to allow anyone in to use the restroom (they mainly did this for business reasons, not out of common courtesy lol. More people coming into the store means more people see your food for sale and it's very likely that if someone is hungry enough, they'll stop to buy something.) They basically left it to the employees to decide who should not be allowed in or kicked out.
