I won a game against a random player in sc2. It was a tvt and I went for marine viking tank, as is standard. He complained that I didn't play standard, when he went BC into mech and ghosts trying to nuke me in tvt. We then played another game, still random, another tvt. He complained when I went straight into Vikings to counter his bc that I knew he would do again. He said I was a bad player, that I knew nothing about the game, etc. This man was still less cringe than Artosis is every day.

You gonna make the switch to SC2? I have played both and I think you'd do A LOT better for yourself in SC2 if you went full time there. Your micro intensive playstyle would go a much further, imo. I've heard your point about how SC2 makes a lot of things easier that takes away from the depth of the game... but is it good depth? The main thing I see you get pissed off about is wonky unit pathing. I agree that SC2 units are too fluid in their movement, but it frees up your apm to do more useful tasks. There is a fine line between giving the player a lot to do, and making the player perform arduous repetitive and frustrating tasks for the sake of "depth". There is plenty to do in SC2, and no amount of human apm will ever be able to do it all so taking away some of the smaller inconveniences really just frees you up to think bigger picture.

great points! wonky pathing, manually sending every worker to mine, etc. are not depth. they are challenges that do raise the skill ceiling, but they tax your coordination, speed, multi-tasking. these are all execution challenges. usually we understand "depth" as a quality that allows other skills to shine: strategic thinking, planning, intuition, knowledge of the meta, understanding of your opponent's psychology... not saying SC is a silly game or anything. also, idk if you know this, but Arty did try his hand at SC2. he played protoss (yes, really) and, through his immaculate play, gave birth to the term "Artosis pylon" (powering several important buildings with only 1 easily snipable pylon).

that last game, the Protoss was actually *MERCIFUL* to Artosis and let him win on purpose, maybe sensing that he's on a rage streak and wanted to show mercy... Look at 10:48 -- The protoss can win *EASILY right then and there* by simply doing 2 things: 1) Kill the 2 tanks on the LOW ground, *AND then* 2) retreat to outside of range of the *HI-* ground tanks, but still in range of the CC and workers. Outcome would be that base would either be dead, *OR* inoperational for TOO long a time. From *THEN on* , it's a simple victory for the Toss. Yet, he decided to *SHOW MERCY and let Arto live for the moment. :P* .

Because once you remove those layers of tedium the game actually loses its player expression. One of the problems with starcraft 2 is that since the macro was so easy to do that it's difficult for a player to have a distinct macro or a macro style cuz everybody can macro all the time pretty much while microing. On top of that army control is so simple at times that the game for most of its history had a problem with death balls especially protoss armies. The protoss got nerfed into the ground because of this especially colossi for example and they sort of forced people to switch over to the disruptor which is just another layer of tedium (shoot this ball and hope the enemy doesn't run back. Repeat ad nauseam). In fact if you look at a David Kim interview they added in bullshit to replace the tedium such as larva injects add creep spread because otherwise it would just be completely brain-dead

It seems the easiest. I play random. T has what, 5 set-and-forget units. Yea pros maneuver much better. But, take some territory, sit your mines, libs, tanks around. 0 apm for those, can focus on something else. They’ll eventually break themself against your siege either by accident moving an army or by testing their limit. The game seems to be made for pro play. It is very hard for a gold Zerg to compete with random mine placement. Their whole lingbane army blows up because of 2 mines I put 7 minutes ago I even forgot were there. People saying well Serral handles mines. He is the number 1 player literally. You can mine, lib, tank your way to diamond with 40 apm. I’m a natural Z, from bw and sc2. I can handle T, but, it is certainly arguable it is more difficult of a game than when playing T. I like Z the most, I like P next, T last, but, it is just the easiest. If I want to just ladder to jump, easy T. It reminds me of Master Yi from league of legends. He’s really good at lower ranks, he just does well. Once people’s skill is better at higher MMR he isn’t as dominant. But, at gold or whatever, he seems unstoppable. The gold players then pick Yi because they got teabagged by him. All of a sudden you have a thousand new Yi players ranking. But, don’t exactly deserve that rank if they were generically playing another champ. About the same, IMO, for T. I see all the T ladderers at all the diff ranks through my accounts, and, there’s T that are Dia+ that I don’t understand how they got there besides the fact that T is easier. There are Zerg I watch replays etc, and can see their thought process and game sense, but just can’t handle mines. Mine is 4, e, select, move, e. Five overall actions, let it sit forever and do its job. It is infinitely more difficult to deal with it than it is to create and place. Find it, bring detection slightly out of range, choose 1 unit for sacrifice, bring a couple other units nearby for after it’s shot to kill it. Keep Econ going, watch minimap for T noticing you handling and their drop cause multi prong, spread, spread main army, put blings for a counter to their counter.. to handle 1 mine. You can easily get to dia with 40 apm as T just being smart about the map, not taking any fight, just absorbing and setting-and-forgetting. I’ve done it. Dia isn’t anything to brag about, but, to do nothing but siege your units and watch Netflix and collect your win, it is..

Zergs are the least successful at ranking while using the most spells and juggling more units. The biggest mistake a lower terran can make is to copy the top terrans.

all you have to do with Terran in sc2 is stim+a-move your way to diamond 2, then you need to also emp/snipe then you get to masters 3. It's much harder in broodwar especially when you factor in how much more fragile the units are.

Ladder in sc1 is a coin flip gamble that is sometimes decided on the loading screen (cross spawn Nexus first) or decided by a dice roll (which location did you scout first)
