Joyce’s daughter-in-law, Tammy, is accusing her of butting into her marriage to Joyce’s son, Troy, including interfering in how Tammy is raising her children and Troy’s son from a previous relationship.
"I don't think I'm butting into their marriage," says Joyce, who adamantly denies Tammy’s claims. "When I go there to visit, I don't want to watch Tammy bully the kids. That's all," she adds.
"I think what we're talking about is child-rearing values, and you're complaining about cleaning the plate, taking off their shoes, having rules in the home, and just frankly, I don't think that's your business," Dr. Phil says to Joyce in this clip from season 2.
When Dr. Phil tells Troy that he has some unique challenges with his blended family, and if he doesn't start “making adjustments,” he won't be married for long, what is Troy’s response?

Theresa Nydahl..👍👍👍I agree with you 100%..what a great comment...you summed it up in one without being emotional. This mother in law's intention is to seek ways to find problems rather than solutions. It's her intention towards their relationship that is the problem. She is petulant and immature and (surprise, surprise)so is her son. She's encouraged him to come to her with their problems because it makes her feel important...he's responding to her the way she has programmed him too...therefore unless a miracle occurs this wife doesn't stand a chance of being treated fairly. If she has any backbone she will grow tired of this scenario quickly...then all the running to mommy in the world is not going to help him and he will have the same problem with his next partner. This mother has done her son no favours I'm afraid 😤👿

They might never eat certain food ever again when they are adults, but that doesn't mean they're traumatized or that it's child abuse.

Having rules is not "military style" parenting! That tells me all i need to know about why the husband is agreeing with his mom. He's never had a consequence to anything in his life

If she was what I had to deal with, he would nit have to leave me 4 times - I would have left him myself once !

The fact that the wife is so upset and so concerned for her kids and working so hard on her marriage but the mil knows that and it's literally laughing the whole time while her dil is crying because her life is falling apart is... honestly sadistic. She takes pleasure in her pain. That's literally the definition of sadistic

The three against the wife... Terrible. What a pressured life always under mother in laws scrutiny... She and her husband are bullies. Shame on you.

That man is weak just like his mother wanted him to be. She can't control her sons wife like she can control him and that's her problem with the whole thing.

Mom in law needs to butt out BUT son needs to stop running home to mom when he can't work things out. Man up and sort out without parent's interference or finish it.
