Is Abhijit Banerjee intoxicated or has a natural speech impediment? He has great ideas, but he is a poor communicator. Watch his MIT lectures, dreadfully unengaging.

I agree that it looks like he has a speech impediment. But I think his lectures are engaging and he seems to be great at communicating what he thinks.
