I don’t trust the government on COVID app: Hanson

Many Australians “do not trust the government” and are extremely dubious about downloading the COVID Safe mobile phone app, according to One Nation leader Pauline Hanson.
She told Sky News the "horse has bolted" and the app is no longer needed in order to combat the novel coronavirus, despite Australia's chief medical officer warning the disease could spread widely again if strict social distancing and other restrictions are not adhered to.
Over 1.89 million Australians have downloaded the 'CovidSAFE' contact tracing mobile app, with the government arguing it will streamline the process of finding people exposed to the novel coronavirus.
Using Bluetooth, the app traces prolonged contact of other users within range for 21 days allowing health authorities to quickly contact people who have been in contact with someone who tests positive for coronavirus.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison has previously suggested the app needs at least 40 per cent community buy-in for it to be effective and has ruled out making the service mandatory.
Ms Hanson said despite the government’s assurance the app will not infringe on a person’s privacy, she will not download the app.
“A lot of people are dubious about downloading the app,” she told Sky News host Chris Kenny.
“I’m one of those people, Barnaby Joyce is one of those people, he doesn’t trust the government and he’s been deputy prime minister.”
“The thing is, I am not prepared to download the app, I don’t want to, you talk about the older generation I am the older generation.
"It is my choice.”

I agree for once in my life, with Pauline! the main reason a tracking system like this gets impletemented, is because of the governments intentions - future tense - it uses its current circumstances as a stepping stone to further its own agenda. Of course there will be benefits to us right now (or near future) otherwise it would get rejected immediately by GenPop - but that particular benefit doesnt necessarily mean its the ONLY thing being achieved by the government.
