This is what I never understood. These TikTok kids want to "destroy the gender binary" and be unique but live by strict codes and outdated stereotypes. A man wants to wear makeup so he must be a woman, or a woman wants to wear athletic shorts and a jersey so she must be a man. A man wants to be "femme" so grows his hair out, and a woman watch to be a dude so cuts it short. What happened to people being well-rounded individuals with varied tastes?

If a person needs to do that, fine, but calm the f down and stop trampling over the gay community, children and soociety in general. It’s part of the abusive mindset. It involves creating a scenario in their head, getting angry about it, then giving themselves permission to rage. Rather than one victim bearing the brunt of this, it’s more topical now to vent on social media in order to get those sweet, sweet interactions (good or bad) which then validate the imagined slight.

What I find is the most straightforward argument you use in this presentation: If someone feels the need to create new gender descriptors, they are dismissing the reality that both males and females do not *have* to restrict themselves to gender/sexual constructs/stereotypes. As a much older gay man, I lived through decades when gay liberation fostered the view that one did not have to 'fit' into heterosexual norms for how a male or female should look and behave. They were also times when transexuals were individuals who felt that they would be happiest and most fulfilled if they altered bodies/behavior/dress/presentation/etc. It was simple, realistic and, most importantly, it worked. There was minimal in-fighting within our community and our joint focus as L, G and T was on civil rights for ourselves. Keep up the good work.

My 1 year old is going through a phase where he asks "What's that?" ALL THE TIME. Even at the store, he points people and asks me "What's that?" If he pointed at one of these people, I'd be like "What is that?? I don't even know. They might not even know." At least people probably assume I'm not teaching him pronouns, but I am, I just don't have time for outside noise AT ALL. 😂

Miriam Margolyes is a truly unique personality. And, generally, I agree with her that if it makes someone happy..... Like many people I dislike the full version of my first name and use a diminutive. I might correct someone who saw the full name (on a credit card or medical record or something) by saying "Actually I prefer Jaye...." but if they forgot I wouldn't berate them and in a one-off situation it's not worth the effort. The chances are I am NEVER going to encounter them again and people who know and care about me know what I prefer to be called. However, it's the people who DEMAND I know their pronouns through some sort of telepathy I find insufferable. If it upsets you that much, feel free to enlighten me but also please be aware that I DON'T CARE. If I cared about you because you are friend or family, then that's different but if you are a random person I have happened to encounter, I don't care. I don't care to play your ridiculous "Guess my pronouns" game. I'll take my best guess although if I am talking to YOU I will say "You....." One doesn't say "He....." or "She....." directly to the subject. In short, I don't care to feed your delusion. If you're emotionally traumatised because I won't feed your insatiable need for validation, I can recommend a good therapist.

My Mum told me that when I was about 4, I asked her “why does that Boy have long hair”. In fact, it was a girl with long hair wearing blue. We laugh about this today but the truth is that I came into this world wanting to know typical gender roles and I enjoyed knowing I belonged. There’s nothing wrong with with me for feeling that way just as there’s nothing wrong for people who don’t feel that way at all ❤

The need to label everything is a problem....when we label things we in a way lock it into place, limit the potential of said thing, person, situation....it is also a problem because we are none of the labels we give ourselves or others as these are just different experiences people are having....your whole being and identity is much more than any label and so in a way we reduce ourselves and others w all the labels and apparently drive ourselves crazy while we're at it......

"It doesn't matter about grammar." Actually, yes it does. If everyone can make up their own rules, everyone becomes an island, and there is no society. At that point no one is calling you anything because this thing called society no longer exists.

I’m only in there to buy groceries I don’t need to even think about your ideology. It’s like saying, “hi I’m a Christian” on your shirt. I don’t care! lol I’m just not going to ask that that person for help because I’m afraid I’ll mess up and cause an awkward situation.

Gotta love how some people refuse to pass or socially transition or intentionally try to look confusing (ive heard them say it themselves) and then immediately turn around and get upset when someone doesnt know what to call them or calls them the wrong thing. Its almost like they do it for attention or something. *Sarcasm*

I have explained to a few people that they have probably used the they/them pronoun many times without realizing it because it’s actually a normal part of English You’re husbands coworker is coming for dinner and he’s bringing a guest with him. Nothing else has been said except another person will be arriving. You ask your hubs “do you know anything about them or what food preferences they have?” You used they/them because you weren’t told their gender. It is a natural usage of English that is so common most people don’t even acknowledge it. You have e to point it out when they say referring to a single person as they/them doesn’t make sense. This is when feelings interrupt logic.

It's unlikely that my husband would expect me to welcome and cook dinner for a guest without telling me the person's name, from which I could guess the sex. If I couldn't guess I'd ask. By the way - it's 'Your husband's co-worker', not 'You're husbands coworker'.

@@pollyparrot9447 I imagined a scenario where the word would be used, and you’re arguing about the imaginary part ? I guess what people are saying is true, people look for excuses to argue and dominate others. Forget I said anything since you can’t find a way to look at what I’m actually trying to say. Jeez. Edited to say you glanced over what I said and are responding incorrectly, but that’s the looking to be offended nature.

"If it makes them happy, why not?" Would they just go along with someone's religious belief if they didn't agree or knew it was wrong because it would make them happy? We all know the answer. That's one of the stupidest arguments. I also don't have to justify why I won't do it. You see, they try to turn it around on you to make you go on the defensive, making themselves into a victim and you out to be the bad guy. Good ole gaslighting.
