Personally I'd like a combo of the Neutral Ending with a Story Mode. That would 100% justify a new purchase on the next gen and also allows for one insane send off for the franchise since it's nigh impossible to top Ultimate for what it did

A story mode with over 89 characters seems very difficult to pull out (brawl had to do that with less than half of Ultimate's roster and it was still a mess with characters coming out of nowhere or barely doing anything at all)

I have to admit with Ultimate having the premise of “Everyone is here” with characters in the dlc from franchises we never thought would actually happen (I mean who thought Joker would make it in?), the question is where do we go next? If they make another game with all the characters in it plus it’s own inclusions then it kinda invalidates Ultimate with its “Everyone is here” slogan while on the other hand people will complain if their favourite character gets omitted. It’s a tough Decision and one I don’t see Sakurai making either considering his own health and age. Whatever happens next I hope at the very least makes people happy (and fixes the horrible online as well as giving me Doomguy). Great vid dude

This is very well edited, great video :) I personally would want a soft reboot with a smaller roster, but with custom special moves as a MAIN feature instead of a side thing like in smash 4. I feel like there is a lot of potential in that concept if done correctly, like with Palutena or mega-man's smash 4 customs, and obviously with reasonable unlock methods (perhaps through a story mode type thing). This would also allow characters like Doctor Mario or Dark Pit to be condensed into a named costume with any specials unique to them being one of the custom specials.

I would love to see new movesets on everyone, some can feel a bit more classic. Pit can represent Kid Icarus on the NES, while Pittoo represents Kid Icarus Uprising. We also have more buttons than we did on the gamecube, we can add a new set of moves. Also a good chunk of educational and training tools like what Street Fighter 6 offers would be really nice. As for the Fire Emblem characters, just give them the Hero Treatment. Merge most lords into one character as different skins and have Edelgard serve as the series' villain representation, and a potential avatar to use a variety of weapons. Don't remove Dragon Quest's Hero though. Way too important for gaming to exclude.

On one hand, I'd love to see how the next smash game woukd continue the saga, regardless of if it was better than Ultimate or not. On the other, people will end up getting who they wanted one week and complain that they only spam the next week.

Tbh I want to see a new smash game wit like 30-40 characters but all of them have something new and a bunch of new mechanics. Maybe more combo potential so it can feel like more platform fighters like rivals of Aethur with more general mechanics and character traits. Maybe more extra game modes like and actual story mode. Also remove some of the og picks like marth and Roy as they aren’t really needed. Focus on new Nintendo ip’s and characters instead of old ones (besides icons like pikachu and Mario) I’m kind of bored with ultimate as there r a lot of characters however a lot of characters play the same.

I believe that's not an option. Apparently Ultimate has a seemingly unmodifiable cap in it's roster that if bypassed it crashes the game (and I say seemingly unmodifiable cause the modders were able to do stuff like revamping the stage select screen yet they cannot even change that cap cause apparently it's part of the game's foundation, which means it would be like making a whole different game from scratch) and that cap is only 4 spaces away from being reached which combined with the 3 empty spots in the stage select screen, that leaves a slot for one bonus fighter (like pirahna plant) and a fighter pass with only 3 fighters which is a really small number (when Nickelodeon All-Stars Brawl 2 has 4 spots for it's DLC, that says a lot)

Gonna be honest, I hate the idea of a Smash Ultimate Deluxe because to me it’ll feel like every modern day Fire Emblem Fighter in the game. *A wasted slot.* Like I’m okay with the soft reboot having less fighters and content as long as we don’t waste a universe of potential for a remaster of a game that’s already good enough. Like, it’s gonna be too good as in a bad way if they remaster Ultimate.

The argument Sakurai gave for not updating characters was to not abandon fans of older smash games which got their main's moves changed, so using your approach might do more harm than good.
