I heard it for the first time upon my arrival in the Philippines in November, 1980. It was a huge hit and was getting plenty of play on the popular radio stations in Manila. Since my return in 1982, I have never heard the song on radio in the U.S. and nobody here in the U.S. that I know has ever heard of the song.

I could swear from my memory that I heard this Lani Hall song, "I Don't Want You To Go" on the radio between 1980 and 1981, not in 1983. I remembered that the song didn't get a lot of airplay. It was not a success although I loved it because of its sentimentality. I'm sure it didn't come out that late in 1983 because the 80s songs had their own unique vibe and "I Don't Want You To Go" was more in line with the soft rock of the 70s. Maybe the song was re-released in 1983.
