Must be nice to live rent-free, not have bills, spend most of the day watching and shooting videos, and to be able to look down on normal 9 to 5 work. I am now retired with a pension and social security, but I had to put in the work to get here.

The only reason I criticize people who don’t do the normal 9-5 is when they judge people who work 9-5 and act like they’re better than those who do. My 9-5 has helped me buy a home, a car and provide for my family in ways that me “being there” aka physically present 24/7, never could

“I don’t work a 9-5 job, I never have, never will” so how can you judge something or comment on something you’ve never done before?? Sounds like you’re a little close minded to me. It seems you’ve watched too many movies and gained a poor idea what a “9-5” can be and do for you. I think you should rethink this video. Maybe making videos like this isn’t a good idea, are you bored from not being able to buy media? As many others have commented those of us that do work 9-5s aren’t “miserable”. If you don’t like a job, find a different one. That simple. But you’re stepping on toes and being somewhat hypocritical by saying you haven’t and won’t work a 9-5 and they shouldn’t judge you for not but you’re judging them for working a 9-5. Your idea of a 9-5 isn’t what everyone experiences. I like my job, I get paid well, have great benefits, meet new people, connect with coworkers, and most of all provide for my family. Most people work hard for their money and enjoy the jobs they have and you seem to be bashing them. I’m happy that you get to take care of your parents. That’s great. We should all care for our family. I truly commend you for doing that. But at the same time, most of us don’t want to be in our 40s living at home, so we have to work. I think and I could be wrong, I think you use taking care of your parents as an excuse that you can’t do more. People that try and get by doing little as possible like a “door dash driver” will try and come up with excuses as to why they can’t make a better living. People who tend to make excuses typically fail. We all should want to better ourselves. Part of being an adult is sometimes doing things we don’t want to do or make sacrifices. Sometimes we work a job we don’t like but put the work in that will lead us to a better position for ourselves and our families. Most good jobs and positions aren’t handed out, they are earned. You don’t have to work a 9-5, like others have said, find remote work that allows you to care for your parents but also make more money for yourself. More money means you can take care of your debt better, better yourself, and care for your parents financially even more. I think you need to be realistic. A door dash driver isn’t a career. That’s a side hustle for some extra cash. And you aren’t some big time KZbinr with millions of followers. (And you won’t be with videos like this and being close minded). The things you do are hobbies to make some extra cash. If you have time to make KZbin videos and door dash you have time to work a job even if it’s remote work. Sorry Sue, not trying to be a hater just trying to give some constructive criticism and just not a fan of this video for those that do work a “9-5” and enjoy it and work hard for our money and to provide for our families. You say you’re fine and happy doing the door dashing and it works for you. But again, let’s be realistic, is it really working? Because you run a channel based on physical media buying/collecting but you can’t even buy or collect physical media because you’re in so much debt. Don’t bash us hard working “9-5” people who work to pay our bills. Also, just another thought. What if this KZbin thing doesn’t work out in the long run? What if your parents income slows or stops and you have to provide for them even more? You’ve never worked a real “9-5” you’ll have no experience. As a responsible adult and being realistic those are things you have to think about at times even though they maybe uncomfortable.

While I get that not working a traditional 9-5 job isn’t for you, it does comes across as hypocritical because you’re saying how shitty it is to work a traditional 9-5 yet you are taken care of. You don’t have to worry about rent, insurance, HOA fees, etc. People who do have a 9-5 jobs wouldn’t be able to survive if they were to just work uber eats, door dash, etc. Also, working a 9-5 has other benefits, such as healthcare (dental and vision) and 401k. 401k is a big one that way you can actually enjoy retirement and not be working until the end of time.

I know that there's work where this is happening, but as she is now a public person, she can't expect everyone to not let her know they disagree. Just as you reacted on my comment (which is fine because that's your opinion), I am allowed to write down mine. And if you Google the definition of the word stereotypical, you would find that it fits. It's a really common occupational stereotype.

@@Trekapedia she is in fact stereotyping 9 to 5 jobs. She’s taking a very narrow view of that type of job, which she admits she has never worked, and ascribing and conflating that viewpoint to all 9 to 5 jobs. If she is asking viewers not to be closed minded about gig type jobs, she can’t simultaneously generalize, make inaccurate and unfounded assumptions and stereotype 9 to 5 jobs. That’s the dictionary definition of hypocrisy.

You can't sustain a quality of life without putting in work one way or the other. Even those who live off the grid and pay no bills have to work for their food, heat, shelter, which is arguably harder than most 9-5's. Unless you come from money or you're bumming off friends and relatives you need to get to work. Saying no to a traditional 9 to 5 is also likely saying no to generous benefits, including in my case, things like vacation and sick time, medical/dental/vision plans, company matching retirement plans, tuition reimbursement, tax saving medical flex plans, free life insurance and both short term and long term disability benefits. It looks sort of clueless and uninformed to knock a 9 to 5 job. It’s a job that has allowed me to buy a home and provide for my 3 kids. Sue, if you came down with pneumonia and couldn’t work for the next 3 weeks, wouldn’t that be a financial catastrophe? A traditional job allows you to better navigate these life events. I could be sick for the next 4 months without it jeopardizing my livelihood. It’s really ignorant to knock it. And you know what, I enjoy my job, make a good salary and my intelligence is respected and rewarded. Plus my work schedule is flexible and I can work around things like doctor and dentist appointments or a trip to the auto repair shop. It looks dumb to stereotype 9 to 5 jobs, not all of us are as miserable as you think.

The reality is that most people do not have the luxury of not having to work a 9-5 job. You say yourself that you’re fortunate that you don’t need to do that because of your situation. I think that if your situation was different and you HAD to work a 9-5 job you’d probably find very quickly that regardless of whether it’s soul crushing, you need to do it to survive. Which is why the majority of the population does it… Maybe you would be miserable if you had to do it, but not everyone who does is miserable. Most people enjoy the structure it provides. I’m just kinda perplexed by this video. I’ve been in support of you these last few months with how transparent and vulnerable you’ve been, but this video probably needed a bit more thought because it comes off like you’re simultaneously mad that people question your lifestyle (something you invite onto yourself when you post KZbin videos about it) and also judging people for not doing what you do, whilst admitting that your situation allows for it where others may not have that luxury.

@@MoviesSue I respect your opinions and understand why you have decided to pursue what you are seeking. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with your decision. But there are indeed “9-5” type jobs that have similar arrangements based on occupation, skill levels, etc. Technology has helped in this regard. I don’t even have to go into the office most days, especially when I have to travel. Based on your assessment/notion of a 9-to-5, I could consider being part of that and can say that I absolutely love what I do. It took years, but I am an expert in my field and thus enjoy a more lax level of autonomy, which in turn allows me to put a bit more time into my hobby of collecting. A 9-5 isn’t for everyone, but it’s a lot less traditional than it once was and has more upsides, especially if one chooses to work on what they love, thankfully.

Oh no. First I don’t think your intention here is to rub people the wrong way. I think you know what works for you and that is most important. That said, while I understand your sentiment and there’s no shame in working odd hour jobs, I don’t agree with the notion that people working 9-5’s are necessarily miserable. That’s painting people with a very broad stroke. My husband, for instance, is a video game designer, loves his job. It’s his passion. He has been behind some great games that people have played through the years. The point is the fact that it’s 9-5 has nothing to do with how he enjoys his work. I say if you enjoy what you do for a living, whether it is your passion or not, you’re doing things right. Some people need the structure that a 9-5 gives them but they could never handle the commitment that being an influencer demands on, say, Instagram. It’s all relative to what your interests are and where your strengths lie. As a stay at home dad, my job hours are all over the place. Some people think that means I have it “easy” but don’t understand the isolation and loneliness that can come with it. Still, I wouldn’t trade it for the world. It’s hard but rewarding work, and I prefer it to any 9-5. That doesn’t mean that I don’t think there’s value in those jobs too, however.

It depends what you do. I studied to be a x-ray tech in P.R. And worked at a big hospital from 3:00pm to 11:00pm and loved it as this is what I chose. Well in 2012 I relocated to NY to work here. So what happened was that the government mistook me for somebody with my same name and ruined my life. I ended up homeless and lost my career in the medical field. God how I suffered!😭 Nowadays I live in a building and I'm stable. I work as a translator because I speak 4 languages. But not in 1 place I travel all over the city at whatever time I'm needed as I'm Per-Diem. And that's what I like about it traveling and different hours. But 3 years ago I was approved SSI and SSDI benefits from Social Security and I'm allowed to be a translator because all I do is talk!🤑 But I would rather had my x-ray tech position at a diagnostic imaging center if I could have it. But yeah there's so many ways of making money nowadays. You go sis!🤗

@@MoviesSue Yes, don't worry about that. You can't please everyone. Someone will always be displeased no matter what you do.

You want to see the spitting definition of miserable? Go into any walmart anywhere and look for their employees. They are being micro-managed to the extreme. They also do not get paid enough to survive. Why do some people persist at working at walmart, it boggles my mind. I'm changing jobs next year, I've had enough of 'mandatory back-breaking speed and labor' because it all has to get done.

You're right about 9-5 jobs. I'd say 85% of people find their jobs soul crushing. It's very sad. If you find something that works for you, stick with it.
