Want to SCALE your business? Go here: acquisition.com
Want to START a business? Go here: skool.com/games
If you’re new to my channel, my name is Alex Hormozi. I’m the founder and managing partner of Acquisition.com. It’s a family office, which is just a formal way of saying we invest our own money into companies. Our 10 portfolio companies bring in over $200,000,000+ per year. Our ownership stake varies between 20% and 100% of them. Given this is a YT channel, and anyone can claim anything, I’ll give you some stuff you can google to verify below.
How I got here…
21: Graduated Vanderbilt in 3 years Magna Cum Laude, and took a fancy consulting job.
23 yrs old: Left my fancy consulting job to start a business (a gym).
24 yrs old: Opened 5 gym locations.
26 yrs old: Closed down 6th gym. Lost everything.
26 yrs old: Got back to launching gyms (launched 33). Then, lost everything for a 2nd time.
26 yrs old: In desperation, started licensing model as a hail mary. It worked.
27 yrs old: "Gym Launch" does $3M profit the next 6 months. Then $17M profit next 12 months.
28 yrs old: Started Prestige Labs. $20M the first year.
29 yrs old: Launched ALAN, a software company for agencies to work leads for customers. Scaled to $1.7mmo within 6 months.
31 yrs old: Sold 75% of UseAlan to a strategic buyer in an all stock deal.
31 yrs old: Sold 66% of Gym Launch & Prestige Labs at $46.2M valuation in all-cash deal to American Pacific Group. (you can google it)
31 yrs old: Started our family office Acquisition.com. We invest and scale companies using the $42M in distributions we had taken + the cash from the $46.2M exit.
32 yrs old: Started making free content showing how we grow companies to make real business education accessible to everyone (and) to attract business owners to invest or scale their businesses.
34 yrs old: I became co-owner of Skool.com to help the many people who want to start a business online do so.
Today: Our portfolio now does $200M/yr between 10 companies. The largest doing $100M/yr the smallest doing $5M per year. Our ownership varies between 20% and 100% ownership of the companies. Many of them we invested in early and helped grow (which is how we make our money - not youtube videos).
To all the gladiators in the arena, we’re all in the middle of writing our own stories. The worse the monsters, the more epic the story.
You either get an epic outcome or an epic story. Both mean you win.
Keep crushing. May your desires be greater than your obstacles.
Never quit,
Alex
FULL DISCLOSURE
I make content to make money - just - on a longer time horizon than most. I want to build trust with business owners so we can find the best ones and help them scale. And if they’re awesome, write them a check and go all the way as partners.

lemme try: Low Show rate - setting up personalized reminders for the prospect about the meeting and making sure they will get some value out of the meeting even if they decide not to buy. Low close rate - train the sales team into listening to and understanding the prospects issue more deeply (idk what else) Org. problems - use some sort of program or make someone else focus on the less meaningful tasks that can make other workers lose focus Edit - Yippe I got 1 right

Alex, this is very impressive. You have given me juicy information that I so much needed as this type of process can be used for so many aspects of life, for job searching, for self organization of time and so on. I am going to create a protocol to help me collect data on the success of my day as I seem to be all over the place and this was definitely edifying as it clearly let me know I am operating off of a hope and wishful thinking process with scattered projects with no timeline or benchmarks. I have been just going all day long on building and learning and saying I will get there when I get there to the end of a project. This has been driving me crazy so thank you for this video as it let me know I am a mess and need to clean up how I run my day.

As a novice, my first thoughts are. Can't wait to see where are my answers lineup with yours. 1. Create SMART goal and clear objections to define expectations and accountability moving forward. 2.Change marketing plan to target correct audience 3. Have the CEO create a standard operating procedure (SOP) with his winning strategy and best practices for closing sales. The CEO becomes a mentor to sales. Hire a high quality proven sales manager push them over the team. 4. Thoroughly document progress and track metrics. Make adjustments as needed every 30 days.

I think to fix the business, I would put 80% of the focus on the person/avatar. Having the media buyer target the avatar to tee. Training the sales teams on the avatar. Putting processes in place to train the company on exactly who they were selling to and what their needs, wants, and desires are.

It sounds to me like you can solve the first two problems by some new training with the sales team. Focus on the customer not the product, listen more than speak, focus on the right demographic for our product. The third problem, I would solve by hiring/promoting a new sales manager and make the CEO be a CEO.

Hey Alex, big fan! I have a question that I think a bunch of others would want to ask as well. A key part of your business is through creating/reusing and implementing frameworks and processes in business. Do you have any frameworks and/or processes that you place in your personal life that you have used to get to this stage ?

#1 Get someone to be Sales Mgr (your guy) instead of the CEO. YOUR sales training improves discovery. Sets new expectations w the team. New sales culture. Covers a lot of area in one move. #2 take FUP communication away from setters and create a new position to do that part. Fewer appointment leaks. More focused setters.

I actually paused like he said. So starting as a social worker and seeing how hard it is to get people to what is necessary to keep or acquire benefits I realize I not only am actually in sales but one of the hardest sales jobs I can possibly think of. In the few meetings I have attended I have noticed problems similar to what Alex pointed out here. The way I’d attack the issue is by having the sales people be trained better on how to improvise, which I suppose would mostly come from doing as much market research as possible. If they understand their market then they can adapt better. Then I’d restructure the organization to have more specific departments. Compartmentalization. Increase the amount of calls and so on. This is what me as a novice could think of to address some of the issues.

ALEX -- Azizam -- dude -- this was by far one of my favorite videos you have ever done. All of this I can apply right away within my sales organization. Thank you for doing this - we all know you could be retiring on a private island somewhere but instead you're adding value to humanity over and over again, daily.

I love this guy. I can tell by the way he gives all the information away for free that he has "eff you money" and I'm happy to be along for the ride.

I'll have a crack at it ;-) Low Show rate - better qualification up front, then booking thru something like Chili Piper Low close rate - define process for sales funnel and its stages; ongoing qualification thru funnel; better defining what closing is and then training around it, unless it's transactional Org. problems - start with CEO and work down; look at strengths/weaknesses (also something like Big5 or other) and where ppl actually want to be; listen to ppl, especially those actually interacting with customers

That is interesting, but I think that majority of us are at level 0: - 0 customer - 0 appointments … Could you make a video dedicated on building a first business? I have rode the books, but what would be nice is to have a video format on it

After watching your videos my MBA feels like an absolute joke. These are the skills we should be taught. Problem is those that are really good at this stuff wouldn’t be teaching it, they would be making tons of money DOING it 🤣
