@@halvanhelevh it replaces the textures and animations with same name files and it's only locally cosmetic to you. Meaning for others you appear the same as the set loadout slotted or the default/whatever texture your mod is on in a normal match. The ban happens if you use scripts or have visual guides that point or get an unfair advantage in the match or is otherwisenshade. But all aside modding let's have any set any sound effect that is made available by the community

I modded dota 2 way back in 2015. It was pretty fun and valve didn't care. I didn't play the game from 2017. 2 years ago, I tried dota again and tried modding it. The first time, it detected something and reinstalled every file. I tried it again and then they gave me a game ban. Thanks valve!

Valve going anti-mod is seriously not the way you want this to end, which is also ironic since most Valve's initial employees were actual modders.

It used to be not bannable, but Valve changed file modification rules in DOTA a while back and that ruined the unbannable version of VPK modding in DOTA. I really miss it because I used to run with modified sounds and character models, but sadly its gone and all you can do now is to use actual cheating methods to have skin modification.
