I Draw Your Original Character! #3

In this week's video I draw an original character created by one of my followers! =D

How to submit your character:
1. Email a picture of your character to the email [e-mail]
2. Please include the following information in the email.
- Your first name or nickname so I can say who the character is created by.
- Your character’s name, age, personality, hobbies, things they like and dislike, any other info you think is needed.
- If the picture of your character is not colored please describe their color scheme: eye color, hair color, skin color, outfit colors. If I don’t know the colors of your character I won’t be able to draw them.
3. Your character’s design needs to be family friendly or else I won’t draw them. ^^
4. Please don’t send more the one email. It’s okay if you mess-up in the first email and need to correct something by sending another email, but please don’t send multiple emails. This does not increase your chances of being picked. =)

Literally woke up to this and wow I am impressed. Really liked your color scheme you used instead of mine and I'll consider using that as an alternate recolor for some of my future work (and yeah it is a lot of red I agree.) It also meant a lot how much you liked my character design and really glad you had fun drawing her. You did forget to draw her sideburns and those skirt ribbons however, but other than that this is so cool. Thanks so much for choosing my OC because I learned new things overall and especially gave me a new way to draw her hair. I really appreciate this since I am an aspiring graphic designer and always wanted to turn my drawings into digital work.

Great job on making this one :) I feel you when shading red and using red in general. My eyes are bit sensitive to red so I can't really use the color red often XP. As always great video, still hoping I could get see my OC drawn by you XD

If you have trouble with shading on red without it looking brown etc, my advice is to try shading with violet! It naturally has a bit of red to it while still making the red look dynamic enough. But I think this is interchangeable with the brown shading and fiery orange lighting; really it depends on the feel of the piece. Like, if something needs to come across as more like fire/rock, then I would stick with the more brownish shading.

When I first saw the picture on Instagram it reminded me a lot of Erza from fairy tail. The original creator definitely has an eye for detail bc the hidden ms were really neat. I really like the color scheme and the character itself. I can definitely tell it was an enjoyable challenge for you creatively. One tip I’ve heard for more monochromatic schemes if you’re faced with the red problem again is to set the picture in black and white so that way you can see the contrast between everything. Also, a while back I sent my OC but I’d like to send a different one. Would that be okay or am I limited to one entry?

Yeah the character was a lot of fun. =D I agree, I do the black and white trick a lot to check my levels, that part got cut out because I forgot to record haha. XD I prefer to keep it to one submission, but you could send a reply to the original email you sent that why it would be in the same email and not in a separate one. ^^

8:10 ii dont like shading red either bc when i do the darker colour i change the hue a bit, to the darker side, so if its orange i make it more red or if its yellow i make it more orange, but for red both orange and pink are lighter than red so its annoying trying to pick which one to make the darker red or deciding if i should just not change the hue but either way it ends up looking kinda weird :/

i really liked this one, im starting to draw again after like... 8 years... and learning clip studio... again too (i used the early manga studio ones)... ive always been bad when it comes to coloring, and im thinking in give it a shot again, improve!! i wish you could make a video about coloring in clip studio... but a more detailed one... not so much timelapse or cuts... at least in the important parts...
