In this video me and my artists friends used recent Pokemon Scarlet & Violet text leaks as drawing prompts to imagine what different Gen 9 Pokemon might look like when they evolve. There's obviously no absolute confirmation these leaks are real, we just though they were really fun drawing prompts and we at least hope we got SOMETHING right.

On the japanese bug one I googled and there is a type of beetle that's native to japan, but invasive in other parts of the world - one of those parts being Portugal and western Spain So it's very possible that it's gonna be some sort of bug/dark samurai

The Mortar Pokemon is SO GOOD and very accurate! I'm from Spain, and these are used a LOT with cooking, specially for creating sauces and spices! (Like Alioli) Would love if that one was a real Pokemon, so cute!

Giwi's focus on just meme-ing every drawing provided a good balanced with the rest of the gangs decisions for their interpretations. Really loved that her avatar has the perfect expression to go with her dry humor throughout the video. Bromo's straight up looked like actual pokemon sprites on multiple occasions.

The reason, or at least my guess, for why its Japanese themed is because the games will be Spain AND Portugal and Portugal is the only or one of the only countries Japan traded with when its borders were shut off. In fact one of its ports was built by portuguese builders and a word in Japanese is based on the portuguese word for thank you, Obrigada(sorry about spelling)

Japan also has close relationships with Spain aswell. Around 1550-1650, a lot of japanese incursions went through Spain to explore new lands, and some of them ended in a lot of japanese people moving out to Spain, specially Coria del Río (Sevilla). Apart from that, there is also quite the few invasive bugs species in both Spain and Portugal that came from Japan and Asia, so that also could be the inspiration
