Just got back into bowling after a while out. It was a family tradition for the holidays to go bowling. We would take up 8-10 lanes. About to get my grandmothers ball as she can’t bowl due to age. Are you able to alter the surface of your ball during this practice? Or do you have to wait until after the practice session?

If it's strictly practice, I would assume they are allowed to alter. I think you can't during the tournament until your block, or set, or group is finished. Then you can make changes.

I was just curious bcuz I never really see a lot of surface altering in these practice videos and it would IMO help the bowler's ball reaction a lot if they could increase the surface (lower grit: e.g., 2000 grit --> 1000 grit) if their ball is going too long or reduce the surface (higher grit: e.g., 3000 grit --> 4000 grit) if their ball was reacting too early.

Hey Darren, I got a question that im struggling to find an answer to. I live in very small town and dont really have a bowling proshop anywhere near me but am really wanting to order a ball or two...... I was wondering what you would suggest, I have one very small lane near me and 2 bigger ones a couple hours away... do think they would be able to help me or do you think I need to commit and head all the way to a pro shop???? Go to the smaller lanes nearest you and make contact. The one in Maryville, Tn didn't have a pro shop until recently, but there happened to be a fella there at the time who was very good. Spent an hour or longer working with me and would order whatever I needed. Considering that the pro shop in Knoxville didn't actually customize the ball I overpaid for, I was very lucky when someone pointed out Crest Lanes. I only do business with them, now. Hopefully, something like that could work out for you. Good luck!

@@TheBlaikeHobson you have three shiny pearl symmetric balls that do roughly the same thing. The zen and phase 5 fill the same spot in the bag with basically the same core numbers and cover strengths. The hy road is a little later and sharper, but still has the same cover as the phase 5. If you want something a little stronger and earlier, phase Ii, zen soul or tnt. If you want more, rst-x3, gem, exotic gem, nova, supernova, DNA, absolute, proton physics, or reality

Right. In the 90's, the US Open was paying $250,000 for first. Now it's just $100,000 over 25 years later. If we use an inflation calculator, $100,000 today is equivalent to $50,000 in the 90's. So the payout for the US open is really only 1/5 of what it used to be. The PBA has gone downhill.
