In North America, the Middle East and South Korea, Hyundai sells a different C-segment hot hatch called the Veloster N. However, I prefer the i30N cos it’s more practical than the Veloster N.

Many congrats on your order! It is a cracking car! Ah your right! The i20 N has a mechanical diff and was fantastic but the i30 N had such a good front end I was sure it had one too but checking the specs it is indeed an e-diff. Either way they drive fantastically and you will love yours 👍

The moment I tried this car I fell in love (and bought it), it is so much FUN! Same emotion when I first tried the mk5 GTi - I found the (standard) mk8 GTi numb by comparison. Been wondering if you'd try the i30N for ages and what you'd think of it.

This "numbness" has a become a sad trend with German performance or drivers cars; I have seen reviews where people say that the i30N FL feels more sporty than an M2. A coworker wanted to get the new Z4 to replace his last gen one, but according to him it was far less sporty. When he asked the dealer he got told: BMW turned the Z4 into a Grand Tourer because people wouldnt buy sports cars anymore. No wonder Biermann left them...

Same! I wanted the first gen but disabilities prevent me from driving manuals. Tested the DCT and ordered one the next day. I pick it up next week and cant wait. Only seen 2 facelift models on the roads so far

Do you prefer auto or manual ?
@SamAustin2 жыл бұрын
Really tough to choose between the two but no doubting the DCT auto is faster and brings the top potential out of the car. The manual is more involving even with the rev matching its great fun! I couldn't split between them but as I write this I'd slightly lean towards the auto but that might be because I drove that in the dry and the manual in the wet as you could see from the video 😅
@James-RJM2 жыл бұрын
@@SamAustin My previous car was an i30N performance pack hatch, manual and in blue. It was 275ps where as the standard, Non performance pack without the e-diff, on 18's and torque vectoring instead was 250ps. They've refreshed this one and added a few more ponies, different turbo I believe but the exhaust sounds are quieter than the original cars, lol! Mine was a 2017. Absolutely brilliant car-in the dry only though. In the wet, cold and even mildew damp and the front bunny hopped and wheelspun constantly, the earlier pzero pz4's were great in the dry but crap in the wet, later one's apparently slightly better wet traction. I binned them at 4mm, replacing with ps4s's. Dry grip about the same, wet significantly better but still wheelspun and hopped. I think the e-diff possibly contributed to the hopping when wet. In the dry it was very affective though! Hence changing to the GR4 for year round grip as discussed on that video!😉

A question about the exhaust. Is it me or is the DCT louder than the manual? Did you notice something? 🤔
@SamAustin7 ай бұрын
Thank you for your comment. You know what it was tough to choose between them noise wise. I drove the manual more in the wet and did not push it as much as the DCT. There is 100% a different tone and noise difference between the two gearbox choices which is nice as it mixes things up a bit with the car. I really liked the DCT 👍
@Chappers.Gaming2 жыл бұрын
Automatic though I've never gotten onboard with it.. like it changes for you.. while manual you can rev it out.. I'm not Sure if I'd enjoy a sports auto car. I haven't driven one so I wouldn't know..
@stopspin2 жыл бұрын
Its not traditional automatic torque converter transmission. DCT as mentioned. Basically a manual transmission mated to a pnuematic system that changes the gears for you. This is not a traditional tip tronic transmission, those days are long gone. Mercedes, VW , Hyundai, GTR R35, supra etcetera, all use DCT transmissions. I thought the same as you, until I drove a dct transmission car myself. With dct you still feel the gears even on deceleration. The gear changes are faster can't beat a computer. Just try it you will like it.
@greglawrence92062 жыл бұрын
@@stopspin Plus you can always change gears manually with the paddles or the gear stick for complete control. Best of both!

These cars do sound incredible. Shame the interior is rather dull in my opinion and there is still isn't an option for a digital dash otherwise I'd definitely sway towards one of these.
@xXYannuschXx2 жыл бұрын
They really should place some light blue accents in the interior, but I am SO glad they kept the analogue dash; digital ones 95% of the time look horribly cheap.
@samanson20012 жыл бұрын
@@xXYannuschXx i agree with the accents definitely, too much black in there. And I'm the reverse, any analogue dial cars I drive now are just so dull to me 😂 I love playing around with the digital dashes on different cars. For example I was in the i20n the other day and the digital dash on that is incredible, so much information it gives to you with exciting different displays for the different modes.
