Why short beds? Thats what they make now pickup trucks with 4 doors and short beds, their not even really pickup trucks, their suvs with a little bed. A real pickuo truck has a single or ext cab and a 7 or 8 foot bed. Now new those are the trucks they make the least, everything they make now is family 4 door pickups with 4 foot beds, what good is that for hauling anything? Its not, their suvs. A pickup has 2 doors a bench seat or an extended cab with seats that flip up to put your tools back their and an 8 foot bed to haul stuff, like my 2013 Silverado, Single cab long box, thats a pickup truck.

It is good to see someone genuinely enjoy the S-10. I only see people two types of people driving them. Old men who drive them because they are familiar and easy to drive. And young men who see them only as disposable tools. I think you overpaid, but as they are at the bottom of their depreciation curve, you have to grab one you like when you see it. The shitty ones will be replaced by Colorados and the nice ones will start going up in value. I would pay $5000 for a nice white or red Sonoma, stepside, with factory 17in wheels. I paid $1500 for mine, but it took $1500 to get it back to its former glory. I was the 2nd and 6th owner of that truck.

I've had my 2001 Chevy S10 8 years now. Its just like that one with the extended cab, except its a 2.2l automatic. It currently has 128,000 miles. It had somewhere around 69k when I bought it. Its been an overall reliable truck all those years. It currently has an oil leak at the main seal and the power steering gear is leaking, so that will have to be addressed, aside from that its still runs great and is reliable. Unfortunately someone smacked into the back end of the bed while it was parked out front of my house one night this summer. If I find another matching bed, their an easy swap. But I've got my use out of it, I'm ready to move on, I need a fullsize pickup for what I do. But I'm not sure if I'm going to fix it up as good as I can to get top dollar, or just drive it until the wheels fall off, at this rate, that could be another 8 years. We also had a 96 SS, that thing was a little rocket. Great trucks. I paid $6900 in 2012 for mine, overall not a bad investment. I've had two GM's the S10, a Pontiac Grand Prix and one ford, a Mustang.

Paid $500 for it and had to put on new brake lines on it and clean out the mouse nests. Blew on the test drive.. Ran and drove good considering. She was so rusty the rear frame cross beam was gone and being held together with the hitch. Still used it with no issues. Drove it all winter with 600lbs of sand in the back. Never got stuck.... she sure was slow though...

A lot of people don't know but the Pacific Northwest is another good place for rust-free cars. Even though we get plenty of rain and snow road salts are very rarely used for environmental reasons so older cars are in much better shape than their east coast counterparts.

I just sold my 2001 and it was in even nicer shape than that one, no rust at all on the chassis or frame, only rust was on the rear bumper and that unbolts and is easy to change, it was an NJ truck all its life, even built in GM Linden NJ before they closed for the Colorado production, it only had 130,000 miles and I had it 9 years and drove it 85,000 miles. Sold it for $3700, only thing is, it was only the 2.2l 2wd, same platform, ext cab, no 3rd door, 2 seats in the back. Their great trucks, gonna miss it, but I needed a bigger truck, so it was time to move on, got a 2013 Silverado long box, 77,000, with the 4.8 fuel management free, 34 gallon tank 4x4. Also a great vehicle. Final year second gen, manual 4x4 shift, larger tank, no fuel management to worry about. Also if driven easy, almost same fuel economy as that little 2.2 with some go!

Reminds me two years ago when I bought a 2002 Blazer. Same color as your S-10. Drove it from Los Angeles to Yuma (5 hour drive). The leak on the LS of the radiator may be the engine oil cooler lines or the radiator. The plastic OEM isn't a good one. There is an all aluminum you can buy for $200. Worth the money. Keep in mind your truck may need some other repairs. Had much work done to the Blazer. The body size was small, but roomy. That was the perfect small truck. Sad that now the Colorado and Trailblazer aren't what they were back in the day. However, you enjoy it. That is all that matters. As with the frame, the guy should have sanded down the frame, 2 coats of primer, then 2 coats of paint. For the ABS, I have heard GM ABS modules are horrible. They can, however, be exchanged for a core.

Yeah, My 2000 GMC still has a cleaner frame with no undercoat basically no surface rust at all. Also a Colorado truck so yeah.

Those trucks had 150k coolant. Change it soon. I had a 2001 s10 and it was my favorite vehicle I ever had. My heater core went bad at 160,000. A heater core is a big job and you will need heat in Vermont.
