Awesome! This is THE road to success, not necessarily bydropping salt, but it's the EFFORT that brings results! Every move made brings knowledge direct from your spot. It's still a roll of the dice, but THIS IS HOW you find a monster or at least find out who lives there, who to pass on and who to possibly harvest. OR wether or not you are wasting precious time in a certain area. Can't wait to see results! I love seeing this effort!!!

Thanks man! Heavily inspired by you and your book. Heading out tomorrow start hanging blacktail cams. Same strategy.

Great video! I like these behind the scenes/scouting type videos. A little food for thought: I noticed you placed a camera fairly high on one tree. Maybe consider lowering it a bit, roughly waist high or so. The reason why is the majority of cameras that I am aware of use a flat, 2 dimensional beam for motion detection rather than a cone like a lot of people assume. When the camera is placed high aimed down, game needs to pass through a fairly tight window of space to trigger the camera. I usually drop to one knee at the base of the tree and basically put the camera directly in front of my face. This puts it at a height that sends the flat beam close to parallel to the ground and gives the best odds of catching game. Good luck this season, looking forward to more content!

Appreciate the feedback. The reason I put them up higher is bears.

Good work Jay, that’s some serious driving. Good luck man. I’ve come to realize how lucky I am to have this area in my backyard… I get pissed when I have to drive a hour nvm 13. Hope you get the big one

Thanks for sharing your trip. I am wondering which type of setup are you planning to use at the stand locations? Have you looked into tree saddles and climbing sticks? For family time management, I personally work hard at finding spots close to home. I was out this past weekend doing the same thing: hanging cams and placing salt blocks.
@MindfulHunter8 ай бұрын
Combo of blinds and stands. I haven’t messed with saddles yet. I’ve got some climbing sticks and a lightweight stand and wil be coming up an ol man climber too.

What? I drive a diesel truck and get 700kms to a tank. I think I spent about $600 and drove about 3000kms.

Unrealistic for the blue collar to spend 40 hours driving, and expenses to hunt.

Be careful with the “bait and salt” talk.

Why?

@@MindfulHunter Co’s in some regions will consider it unlawful baiting.

@@CC-hi1zh can you clarify why it would be unlawful? I’m legitimately curious.
@CC-hi1zh7 ай бұрын
@@MindfulHunter I think it’s only for region 4, they changed it in 2020. The regs are very vague on the topic.

@@CC-hi1zh you are correct that there are baiting restrictions for ungulates in 4 but I’m nowhere near 4.
