@arch btw not as dangerous as after treatment, but heavy metals are not extent of problems even if not radioactive
@drantil4 жыл бұрын
@arch btw I'm a geologist, a mineralogist and mineral deposits guy. I try and stay at least 5 meters away from any secondary thorium or uranium bearing minerals; if it's uraninite, even more. Radioactivity is there, you can measure it with a geiger. And a uranium mine is very dangerous for mainly a couple of things: 1. radioactivity per se, that tends to be rather high if there's enough uranium to be mined. 2. dust; if you don't procure a high end ventilation system, water spraying the tunnels for dust deposition, etc. chances are the miners end up inhaling radioactive substances in the form of uranium particles or radon gas, that has a chance to become radioactive polonium while in the lungs. 3. taking those particles home. Hygiene on the equipment must be very strict in order to flush away all those particles from the used equipment, boots, working clothes, etc. because that's added radiation over time. I could argue that secondary or tertiary uranium salts are... reasonably safe to handle if not in high amounts, because the emission rate is rather low, and on an enclosed cage to avoid radon generation. But uraninite, uranium oxide, has a uranium atom for every 2 oxygen atoms, and that sums up to be a shit ton of uranium. And precisely, when you want to mine uranium, you look for uraninite.
@drantil4 жыл бұрын
@arch btw of course there is a natural radioactivity signature, but you, as a mammal, have a natural resistance to said radioactivity, which is commonly associated to the presence of igneous rocks, sedimentary rocks with elevated unstable potassium, building materials. Anything higher than this natural radioactivity starts to pose a risk to health, as our cells are not evolutionarily prepared to sustain it. The problem with radiation from radioactive minerals/materials is the fact that you can be exposed to an urarinite vein for 2 hours and you may not have any problem the rest of your life, or you can develop a cancer in 15 years; of course, the longer the exposure and intensity (amount of radioactive material), the higher the chances. For example, here were I live there is a little abandoned uranium mine they tried to make economically viable during a few years, I believe. Point is, without proper control, as I said in my other post, most of the miners ended up years later developing cancers as a result to constant exposure to radiation and radon gas.

I really want to see DF destroy the economy in breath of the wild Also... Some ideas for DF if he starts playing botw Collect 999: -Apples -Wood -Hylian Rice -Tabantha Wheat -Restless Crickets -Hot-footed Frogs -Hyrule Bass -Ancient Guardian Parts (not giant cores... since their drop rate is 1/20) *How and where you get them* Satori Mountain: -Apples from trees -Wood from cutting trees The lake north of Kakariko Village: -Hyrule Bass (there are two spots with 3 guaranteed Hyrule Bass) infinite Guardian part glitch (look it up on yt for a tutorial): -All Ancient Guardian Parts except for Giant Ancient Cores When cutting grass, you can find various materials / critters. The things you can get change with the region that you're in. Saving and reloading the save file respawns all grass, so you can farm these things as long as you have a sharp weapon: Hylian Rice: -Hateno (there are two big fields in hateno Village) Restless Crickets: -Almost anywhere Hot-footed frogs: -Tabantha -anywhere while it's raining Possible reasons why DF hasn't done this yet: -He has no switch -He doesn't have BotW -He didn't have the idea yet -It's hard to record videos from switch to pc
