I’m 57 so I remember the mid 70’s going to the flea market with 5 bucks and coming home with two Imperial slipjoints. They were cheap but I loved them.

Thank you for this video 👍. I have been buying mainly Case knives recently because I find them like small works of art.....they are simply beautiful! I like how they look......those shiny blades just look amazing, and when you have a bunch of them together, O. M. G ! I have to get a few leather pocket slips so that I can carry them and show them off! Can't wait to see your reviews on these knives!

Case knives are certainly beautiful. I really enjoyed dedicating a lot of time to carrying them. Thanks for watching, man!👍

Nice Rough Ryder I'm 64 and along with my lock blade I carry a victorinox farmer which I use more often than my Spyderco Delica.

It's kinda funny how many people grew up thinking Case and other similar trapper knives were the best of the best or were otherwise the most premium knives out there, thanks to cases full of Cases in stores and/or our parents/grandparents owning them (since, in our minds, it's "obvious" that if they carry a knife, it _has_ to be the best knife possible; after all, the alternative is that the people we look up to carry around a lesser knife, and that _can't_ be the case). It makes me wonder if that childhood tradition-if you can even call it that-will fade away, considering how much the knife market has changed. Case cases haven't faded away if you know where to look, but it feels like most stores almost exclusively stock more modern knives, with occasional exceptions for long-time staples like the 110.

Love questions like this. That's a deep topic. I do sometimes wonder what the "classics" will be according to the next generation. Sounds like a good video discussion 👍😁

My father and I have 4 different matching knives now because of me. We both have Civivi, Spyderco, Ontario and a USA made Old Timer.

Nice! I think pocketknives are some of the best heirloom items out there. It's a special thing to carry a knife that connects you to your friends and family

Sorry it has taken so long for me to finish watching this excellent presentation. Events conspire against me semi-regularly nowdays... Just thinking about ideas for "I edc-ed blank" and the first thing that jumped into my brain was Karambits!... Yeah, I blame that on having been sick lately, so maybe it's left over fever effects. However, there is one thing that I can shamelessly suggest - I EDC-ed TANTOS!!! 😂😂😂 Keep up the good work!

EDCing tantos... I could have predicted that from you😂 Tantos and karambits... both interesting ideas. I think I'm going to do both!

Remember, no matter how awkward a slip joint might be, how uncomfortable they might be, how good they might be, they are still better than a Paraframe.

I've always carried slip-joints and other traditional knives. But of course I'm old. And when I was young that was really all there was. I admire an old Schrade Old Timer that was made here in the USA more than most other knives. I really dislike how so many companies have moved their factories overseas. When I was at school most guys had a Buck 110 in their back pocket. And there were no school stabbings that I ever heard of. Of course, we all carried in our pickups a 30-30 hanging in the back window. They were parked in the school parking lot. I guess the main reason to carry a slip-joint is the connection to maybe a simpler and possibly a better time. I love the stories many people have of their knives. Sorry I rambled a bit too much. PS... God I wish companies would make traditional knives with modern steels!!

Great comment. I agree. That connection with the good old days is so meaningful. And yes! Let's get some traditionals with modern steels!

Slips are nice for looking at but I’m not sure I could survive off of them for 2 weeks out in this urban jungle 🧋
