Well I thought it was grisly, I didn't think it was that scary. Earthbener should've had broken or dislocated limbs to explain why he didn't try any last minute bending, or at least one to inhibit him. Then you could show him scrambling and trying to fight back, defend himself, or do anything before he gets immolated. I thought the on screen execution could've been improved.

The first time seeing Earthbending told me that the show was going to be action packed. One earthbender verses a squad of firebenders. I am pretty sure that Netflix started with that scene in order to show the fandom that they had mastered the art of bending.

I'm one of the few people who didn't like the bending at all. Hardly no martial artstry. The earth bending in the beginning didn't have the brute impact of the cartoon. The way firebenders use their open hands instead of closed fists is more resembling magic than bending. The fight between Gyatsu and Firelord Sozin had no style. Airbending had no style. Waterbending felt weak, specially in the Katara - Pakku fight.

I find it funny how different it was that uncle iroh gets captured by the earth blenders in the live action and the original. In the live action it he was kind of goofy yet cool. I unironically rate the show as a 7/10 (keep in mind im only on ep 5). Yes the writing is hella cringe in numerous areas, thats a given. However, the actors clearly cared about this project and it comes off in their performance, casting is pretty spot on for everyone, even a lot of the changes (which was most likely due to time constraints) im fine with, set design and costumes are literally spot on. and the bending/fight scenes are beautiful to watch. Legit the live action has bones, it just needs the writers to treat the audience with a moticum of trust that we will understand subtext, especially considering the vast majority of people that have watched, and will watch (if theres a season 2) this show are fans of the original, so you dont need fucking gran gran to straight up to the intro word for word, especially considering there was an intro in the intro (which I really liked tbh). TLDR: Show has a good foundation, and clearly has a lot of people who care about the source material behind it, just needs to not explain everything all the time

I'm going to be honest, I thought the show would be better then my expectations. But it wasn't sadly. They made the same mistake as in the movie and that is that Sokka isn't sarcastic and you hear him reading his lines, same with Katara. The cgi is really good but it doesnt feel right. Even when you look at the clothes, they're really more outfits than clothes. I mean in Harry potter you can see that people wear them but the clothes in the show are to clean not all of them but from the watertribe and air nomads. Just my opinion. the reason why the cgi doesnt small all the time is not bc the effects are not good, its the whole writing and the impact of it. Fight scenes can be very dramatic and tense when stakes are high. When they already tell us in the beginning than avatar aang is basically live action mulan and he is just op it destroys a lot of the tension. Also the way you film and direct, the order of events make also an impact.
