For everyone saying I didn't tap in time, I didn't feel the submission until I couldn't step my leg over. You can see I was trying to step out and turn away but my leg got caught and I honestly didn't feel it until the last second when we both rolled. I tore my ankle but I am fully recovered and back to training, even competing in nogi Worlds this weekend so all is well. It was a short but fun match and Josh is a lot stronger then I expected. I almost thought he was in the wrong weight class haha. Good job tho bro, all love.

It probably looks like you tapped slower than you really did, because of the slowed down footage. In real time that was probably a pretty quick situation. Great work and hope you have a speedy recovery!

Amazing effort, Josh! Mad respect to the tenacity you showed in aiming to get Fabian’s back. And awesome concise storytelling as always. Thanks for not pausing every five seconds to point things out - so much more refreshing to watch a 5-6 minute video than a 25 minute one 😴

Im a white belt but I just wanted to know if you had an opportunity to go for the choke when you had your seatbelt grips. It looked like you and your opponent were both tunnel visioned on the hooks getting set that the RNC was available.lmk if I’m wrong and if so why. I’m trying to pick the brain
@JoshRichBJJ
@JoshRichBJJ Жыл бұрын
The reason I didn’t go for it is that unlocking the seatbelt to do that with no hooks in gives up a lot of control and there was a good chance he’d been able to slip out. But he was so good at blocking the hooks that it might of been worth a try, especially at the end

@@JoshRichBJJI’m only a white belt (blue belt promotion soon) lol but i like to go for a sub like the Peruvian necktie when someone turtles or putting them into a crucifix. No points for either, but if you can get a submission, it doesn’t matter. My style is better built for a sub only tournament, tho, since other white belts or blue belts almost never sub me nowadays, and I will sub them (after wearing on them ha).

In the ADCC Ruleset you need back control, or for their but to be on the mat for 3 seconds to score. If they're in the turtle position there are no points
@artnos
@artnos 9 ай бұрын
can someone help me understand the rules, you guys were standing and you took him down, why didn't you get points? Is it because you need to established side control? why not try to get side control instead that would be easier than back with hooks?
@JoshRichBJJ
@JoshRichBJJ 9 ай бұрын
Yeah you need to either force them into guard, take the back, or get side control. Generally it’s hard to keep someone in side control off a takedown cause they can turn away from you denying the points.
