hey erika!! you did awesome!! that first day was crazy big! if i saw the waves were that big i would’ve turned around. i have been in one surf contest. i placed 4th out if 7 and it was very nerve wracking. i fell on my first wave and immediately when you fall i just started to freak out under water. so i think one tip i have is to just stay calm. know that we all fall and everyone had been in that same boat. i am very proud of you for getting out there! you definitely feel very proud and relieved of yourself once you get it over with!! maybe if you come down to california we can surf sometime!

Bigger waves... Once you stand up - they suddenly looks so much smaller and manageable. Yeah I had you 3rd. I've watched a few of your vids now. I like the content so far, I hope you do well with your channel. I was in a surf comp in 93 with Plymouth College of Art and Design. We were only a small college and we couldn't get 4 surfers for the national student comp, so we got a 'Ringer' he was a school kid who was due to join the college the following summer. The comp was at Fistral as well, and we had a local Tommy Green who surfed the beach all his life. The ringer (Can't remembers his name) was a small bloke he may have been known as 'Rat man'? The waves were small and him along with the local boy got us into the finals as I recall, but then someone who knew 'Ratman' dobbed us in and we weren't allowed to compete in the final, I reckon if weren't for that Tommy 'Local Boy' Green would have won the comp for Plymouth that year. I was gutted for him.
