Advent Children is super flawed, but Advent Children Complete more or less fixes it. The On the Way to a Smile novellas also actually do a great job contextualizing and bridging FFVII and ACC, if you've never read them. They really capture the feel of FFVII the game more than the movie did, I think.

The human mind is really something else. A friend of mine had this game back in like '06/07 and lent it to me. I beat it once and gave it back to him. I never had a PS1 so I never played the original FF7. I saw Advent Children on TV in passing and knew Cloud mostly from Kingdom Hearts so I wasn't nearly as familiar with the FF7 world then as I am now. The last few years had people looking back on this game as trash and as I went over what I remembered of this game, my mind went "Wait, I don't remember much about this game". I remember beating it, I remember Vincent saying "Chaos and Omega have returned to the Planet" at the end, I remember Vincent getting ragdolled inside Omega's head until he turned into Chaos, broke out and pulled out the Death Penalty (my mind had a strange blank between breaking out and getting the gun). I remember the Advent Children crew showing up and doing nothing else and that's it. It's as I watched this video that the memories came in and felt exponentially worse because I actually know FF7 now. This was some BAD ow, the edge nonsense.

I just re-watched the cutscenes and holy shit the voices hurt my soul, weird one word dialogues from the other characters makes it sound like the old power rangers voices when they yell shit like "Goooo!" There are things I like about this game, like I admire the effort to give more characterization to Vincent, Reeve, and Yuffie, and it almost has some good ideas, but there is a LOT about this game I don’t like. Diregerus of Cerberus is such a disaster but I kinda love it.

The final 6 hours of this playthrough was a legendary experience. The last hour was preceded by the first big disappointment of the year, and then the last hour of the game it just shits itself. We bled and cried together chat. Bonds were strengthened for all the wrong reasons. 10/10 would do it again

Dirge just might be the cringiest game ever made. It’s crazy that so many of the original dev team worked on that steaming pile of 💩. Some people might say FF7 is overrated, but it is undeniably a landmark title worth being remembered at least, so it’s a shame such garbage is connected to its legacy.

Also Sora fought Cloud and Sephiroth in pass games and are fan favourite characters so makes sense at least some FF7 characters would come back. Also One winged angel form Sephiroth was originally in KH so I love KH

@@Jose-se9pu I will be the first to admit that story has ISSUES, but idk, Zack was a really enjoyable main character, and there were certain parts of the story that I actually really enjoyed. Overal I had a really good time with the game. Zack being as good as he is carried most of it. And I don't think the story is quite as terrible as dirge. Only when Gackt was on screen, is when it got to that level if you ask me.

Yeah, man. Crisis Core is actually a good one. It's story dipped whenever Genesis or Hollander appeared really (which was unfortunately much of it), but outside of that it had some good points. Zack's character definitely did carry it though. He was well fleshed out as it went on, and just a fun character really.
