I recommend that you next watch the top basketball derby nowadays which is between Panathinaikos and Olympiakos, which have been the top basketball teams since the mid 90s. Before that the top teams since the 80s were Aris and PAOK. And before them the top teams were AEK and Panathinaikos. I am an Orthodox priest from Washington DC and an AEK fan. I hope that in soccer AEK gets the championship again, although PAOK looks a bit stronger, and Aris gets the Cup. Enjoy your time in Greece.

Aris's fans have traditionally been crazy about basketball. We have done massive steps as a club to rationalise finances and present a decent team again after almost 3 decades. Unfortunately Palais de Sport (Nikos Gallis Hall) is not a modern arena. Historically we (should) belong to the biggest clubs in Europe, but nowadays only money talks. Without a serious investor, we will more probably see at least 1-2 teams from Dubai or Qatar getting involved in the Euroleague rather than Aris.
