Did you know that you can cross the border into Mexico at Big Bend National Park? I had no idea until my friend Gary told me about it! I was nervous to visit at first- but that soon faded!
After a short visit at the Port of Entry Office, you can wade across the Rio or ride a boat into the small village of Boquillas Del Carmen. To get to the main part of town you can ride a burro or horse, catch a car ride, or walk a half mile on a sandy stretch until you see the lines of artists at work. All with their jewelry, stitchwork, and unique art on display. Choose from two restaurants to enjoy some authentic Mexican food, and music! If you’re lucky, you’ll find a local guide to share the interesting history of this old mining town!
