Dear Brent, I can’t tell you how much your story has helped me. I’m a Paradise resident who fractured my back just months before the fire ripped through our town and took everything. I lost my home and business in that fire. And your videos gave me the strength to keep going in what felt like rebuilding in not only a ghost town but remnants that look like hell on earth. It’s the most hardcore thing I’ve ever lived through. New fire codes that required me to build a deck out of 8” x 8” pressure treated lumber. I had to buy a chainsaw to fit my skillsaw to cut them and because I chose a 17 sided heptadecagon, it required angled end cuts! as most builders said it would take years before they could get to rebuilding my home. After three moves from one bad rental to another. I chose to move back to the burnt out property and rented a 5th wheel to live in. So my daughter and I could be here. Rather than travel here everyday. Not thinking about the fact everything was gone. No food, no stores nothing. So you forget after late nights trying to get that project done and you forget you have no food, we had a lot of food trucks in the beginning and still 4 years later some still serve this community. There’s so much more I hope to share with you in person when I actually get the time to come visit in person. Paradise has a bit of mining history too. Dogtown was where the largest gold nugget found to date in California. April 1859 a 54 pound gold nugget was found. But just want you to know how much you inspired me to keep going! Thru every obstacle and really just helped knowing someone else was building there dream. Keep up the amazing job you’re doing. And know many of us are proud of your accomplishments. Can’t wait to come see the Hotel when it’s done. It’s about an 8 hours drive from here but I’m brainstorming everytime I see your videos or read an email, what I’ve learned that would help you. 🙏❤️🩹 thank you from the bottom of my heart! Rock on brother!!! 😊

I used to live near Red Bluff. I hear the fires were set by DEWs (direct energy weapons) and I’ve seen actual photos of such. Too bad the scapegoat became PG&E. In a Magalia homes burnt but not the trees. One side of the street but not the other. My sister in law lived in Magalia and lost her home as well. The goal was to have a train tracts from China to Southern California. But I think the 2016 winner of the presidential election changed all that. Now they did the same thing to Lahaina Maui. Praying soon you will be compensated for your loss, not just insurance payment.

OMG I laughed when I saw you guys working on the collapse with that breaker bar. I helped dig out a full basement under my parent's house in my teens and I used one of those to break up rocks and cut roots. I called it, "the Misery Stick" I still have the damned thing out in the shed. 😥
@MrNiccholas Жыл бұрын
The stories some of those bars could tell! I work at a camp in the mountains of Colorado and we use several of those bars for all kinds of things. I bent one once trying to pry a rock up! My arms are still tired of picking that thing up and slamming it down again trying to chip the rock in a trench we were digging for a new power line after we accidentally knocked down a power pole during a tree removal gone wrong. Last year my friend was holding the bar resting the end of it on a rock when it slipped and landed on his big toe!

After almost four years, these videos have become so professional, a joy to watch. The book seemingly isn't available in the UK till March 2024, but it's on my wishlist. Proud to have watched these videos from the start. You talk about someday leaving your fingerprint on CG.. You have done already. Be proud of what you've achieved in the time you've been there already. Internet 900ft below ground level... The restoration of the buildings, the library.. and most importantly, the community you are building there. - Someday, somehow... Amazon delivered your book last Friday and yesterday I finished it! Great job, Brent. So many stories that detail the history of Cero Gordo and most especially thank you for opening up and being transparent about the highs and lows of life. We live in a social media wonderland where everything is super fantastic... and we all know that is BS. Sometimes life hands you tough times, like a fire, or a loss of a friend, or ... So much that I personally related to from my own life of various adventures and misadventures... like the time my brothers and I tried to find an abandoned cavern outside Colombia, CA and went down into the South Fork of the Stanislaus River, never finding the cavern, then making the near fatal decision to hike down onto the river canyon and hike out, not realizing the temperature at the bottom was well over a 100 degree plus. Despite walking out in water, we began suffering heat stroke! Just like you on the Salt Tram trail, we made it out, but it was touch and go there. Again, thank you! Now I have to figure out how to download my audible version I bought!

Can't believe it's been 4 years, it's an amazing achievement that you're still working hard with no plans to stop, very happy to have been able to see that progress from the beginning. Cheers Brent!

I remember watching your first video, after you bought the ghost town. I thought "man, this guy is unprepared but really good mission he has. Hopefully he makes something out of it." Well, you made something 100 times better out of it than I ever thought possible, all the while inspiring me. Thank you for everything, and I hope you succeed along your journey

I can’t believe it’s been 4 years! You helped get me through one of the toughest times in my life and I’m sure many during Covid. It’s been epic seeing you grow and always treat the town like the star it is. Thank you Brent ❤

Book preordered a few days ago! What an amazing canyon Brent. 20,000 rock art paintings does make it sacred ground. I bet it feels awesome when there is no wind and the silence takes over. Its a natural cathedral of your ancestors. Often rock art might contain astrological/celestial markers but we can only guess and interpret. That you realize its sacred space, you will continue to be rewarded by the ancestors. You are meant to be at Cerro Gordo.

You're looking so much healthier than you did previously. You got color back in your face and some meat back on your bones. You seem to be less depressed and have found your purpose. I love all that you've done. God bless!

He’s an investment banker that burned down his hotel that wasn’t structurally sound to begin with then raised over 100 k from you suckers online to fix it. Wait didn’t he have insurance? Smh what a fraud. Also him and his investment buddies are the ones that bought it.

You wrote a book on Cerro Gordo !! I've been following you for a while... You're such an inspiration to me, as you're doing what I so deeply desire to do myself- including writing the book! I've been Journaling all my life, I often think about writing a memior. I hope to one day visit this wonderful place and delve into the history you have dug up. What you said at the end of your video is so moving, it really got me thinking about the stresses of my day. While you're feeling gratitude on those sacred grounds, I feel grateful from my couch, for you and what you have done in Cerro Gordo. You help us viewers to dream.

I love your channel. I came just as you were starting to rebuild when Dave Sparks delivered your water container. I was hooked. I applaud you rebuilding Cerro Gordo and digging for and finding the history of it. I do close my eyes at times when you go down into the mines. Not as much now as in the beginning. I look forward to exploring with you and finding out more of the history. Your book will help immensely. May God bless you and keep you safe in your explorations from Maple Grove Minnesota!

I have said this before and I’ll say it again Brent, I know that when the hotel burnt down that you felt a massive loss of history and personal pride of the town. However, you are making history. And I believe that it’s probably wayyyy too easy to forget that when you get so caught up in working on the town. But you will be one of the greats that goes down in this towns history. I hope to visit one day. Thank you for the entertainment over the last 4 years.
